Inhabitants of New Hampshire, 1776 About this book Source: Original data: Wilson, Emily S. Inhabitants of New Hampshire, 1776. Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogicl Publishing Co., 1993. Description: In 1776, at the outset of the American Revolution, the New Hampshire Committee of Safety directed that all males over the age of twenty-one sign the Association Test--a kind of loyalty oath to the Patriot cause. In effect this resulted in a unique census of the adult male population inasmuch as the names of both signers and non-signers were recorded, and it is the most comprehensive list of New Hampshire residents available before the Census of 1790. Previously available in two separate, unindexed booklets, the present publication has placed all the names--well over 9,000--in one alphabetical sequence to enable the researcher to find a person and his town of residence at a glance. William J. Marshall Do you have any idea if your Needham Bryant had a relation ( am thinking possable cousin or nephew) born in the Carolinas, moved and lived in Georgia at an early age-- by the name Caleb OBriant or Bryant. I have found him more than once in the areas that Caleb lived in. I think there is a close relationship with the Brown family somehow also for Caleb. Thank you for any info. Joyce >From: "William J. Dear Ms. McEndree, Don't know anything about a book concerning Benjamin Franklin Bryant, but my great grandfather was Needham Bryant who came to Indiana from Jasper County, Georgia and may have lived in North Carolina before moving to Georgia. His wife was Mary Ann (Polly) Bryant. They were married in Jasper County, and it is not known how, if at all, they were related. If you have interest in the Bryants from Jasper County, Georgia I would love to hear from you as would Kenneth Lindsay who has done much more research on the Bryant family than I have. Hello to all Bryants, please check my web page and give me any help that you can, still searching for my William Monroe Bryant and his parents. He is my greatgrandfather who came to Miss. after the Civil war and married my greatgrandmother Harriet Duvall Babin. web page: _http://hometown.aol.com/la125/la125index.html_ (http://hometown.aol.com/la125/la125index.html) thanks LaVerne Bryant McPhate la125 (http://hometown.aol.com/la125/la125index.html)
And, so many first cousins -in any family- had the same first (given) names. This makes it even more difficult, but we never know when or where (or if) we will find a missing link, do we? This is what I know about Sarah Bryant. She married a Samuel Lewis Hopkins in an unknown place. Their first child was Sarah Ellen Hopkins born in Sept 1841 in Ala. So I would presume that Sarah and Samuel married in 1840. Samuel was born in 1818 in Williamson County, Tennessee. Sarah and Samuel are first seen on the 1850 census in Warren County, Tennessee with more children. Their next four or five are born in Warren County. Then they moved to Rutherford County, Tennessee and had their next five children...Yes they were the parents of eleven. Both Sarah and Samuel died in Rutherford and I can trace the whole family from Sarah Ellen's birth. I have Samuel's family also from 1750 when they came here from Wales. After Samuel's birth, the Hopkins migrated to Illinois, then back to Tennessee. In 1838 Samuel's parents moved on West to Missouri and his parents died in Texas. But who Sarah Bryant's parents were is a BIG mystery and if anyone can help....please help. Elaine Day --------------------------------- --------------------------------- Yahoo! Messenger with Voice.
