When you place an appeal for family contacts do you think you can put in the country & town in the subject line as this list is worldwide. It would save time not having to open irrelevent emails. Thank you

Good morning, Cindy, In the 1860 U.S. census, I find a family I believe to be yours living in the Western District of LEE County, Virginia, Jonesville P.O. The interesting thing about this particular census sheet is that it is one of those rare finds in that the censustaker not only wrote down the state in which the person was born but also the county. Perhaps this information will provide you with the lead(s) you need to find the parents of your William. Here is a transcription; dashes denote blanks; notes in brackets added by me. With all the activity on the list I decided now was a good time to repost my brick wall. I'm searching for information on William Briant/Bryant born abt. 1812 in NC parents unknown. He married Mary "Polly" Ramey in Scott Co VA. There were three children John, Susan and Louisa Jane. I find this family in the 1870 Scott Co VA census and they seem to disappear after that. I can later pick up Louisa Jane and her husband and her o/w child in Scott Co. I would love to find parents and siblings for William. You can view what Bryant information I have at my website. www.tribalpages.com/tribes/clean01

Many of the "Spartanburg" Bryants left and came through Alabama. Some stayed around the in the Calhoun Co., AL., area. My gggg grandfather, William Bryant, was once such person. He died in 1864 and is buried in the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, Ohatchee, AL. Those Bryants that came further west settled in the Union County area of MS. If I can help someone, I will be happy to try. Linda
With all of the action recently on this list, I figure now is as good a time as any to put out a plea for help. Im beginning to think Im the only one researching this line! My earliest findings on this family are as follows: ZACHARY OBRYAN age 51 married to REBECCA age 28 in the 1860 Ledge of Rock, Granville, North Carolina census. Two of their children are: ADOLPHUS age 7, and REBECCA age 12. I find this same family again (with the last name misspelled as OBYAN) in the 1870 Hopkins county Kentucky census I know because they have the two kids from the last census REBECCA and ADOLPHUS now aged 22 and 16, and now my Great Granduncle HENRY aged nine at the time, appears, along with the two sisters my grandmother knew as Faithy and Molly, FAITH aged 7 and MARTHA aged 1. The next time I find these people - apparently after some deaths, or a divorce. The 1880 Webster County Slaughtersville District census shows a REBECCA BRIANT aged 37 with her oldest son HENRY now 18 as head of household. Faith becomes FATHY aged 15 and finally my Great Grandfather THADIUS shows up as the only one born in Kentucky - aged 7. Their progress is pretty well documented from then on in census reports and in family folklore. Id like to find a concrete link to the mother of my great grandfather REBECCA. I think her maiden name was WILLOWFORD from a few links Ive seen. What Id really like to know, is are any of yall out there kin to this line and have anything youd like to share? Linda Anderson
I am also interested in John Obryant, born ca 1792 in Pickens S. C. He is in the right area, and right time frame to be a "possible" close relative with close associated family names. Yes--I know, fishing in the dark--but looking for leads. Looking for any information on a Caleb O Briant born ca 1800 in the Carolinas. He and his wife "Jessie" had at least 4 children, Robert, James, Joseph, Lucinda. I do not know who Calebs parents were. I believe that there is a close relationship here with the Brown surname. Caleb lived in Rabun, Forysyth, and Gilmer Co. Ga. Any help, leads, pictures,-------- much appreciated. I have few more dates, names of the boys spouses and Lucindas. The name is first listed as OBriant, and eventually Bryant. Hello there: I have connections to the Bryants in Trigg Co, KY through my Sumner family. Originally, Richard Sumner Sr (1643-1729) married Mary Bryant (1694-aft 1729), dau of James and Elizabeth (Bertie) Bryant in Bertie Co, NC where they both died. I also have in my database: Mary Bryant (26 May 1915 Trigg Co, KY-?) married Lacy Calvin Sumner 3 Oct 1909 Trigg Co, KY-6 Feb 1962 Trigg Co, KY "Hicks" Boyce Bryant 30 Jul 1907 Trigg Co, KY-26 Jun 1973 Trigg Co, KY married May 1935 to Dorothy Mae Sumner 12 Mar 1920 Trigg Co, - 8 Dec 2005 Trigg Co, Children: Peggy b 1948, Tracey b 1958. Lisa Bryant, dau of Billy Bryant and Wandine ?? married Rick Cunningham in Trigg County 20 May 2006. I have tons of Bryants from Northampton and Bertie Co, NC, but these are the only ones I can say are from Trigg County. I have dozens of research books from Trigg County, do you have any specific Bryants you would like looked up?? I'll look up all I can for you. Let me know if I can help. I wish someone could help me on my Auston Bryant, b. bt. 1770-1780, Buckingham Co. VA., d. Pope Co. Ark., bf. Jul 1835., m. to Elizabeth "Betsy" b. according to census bt. 1980-1900, d. bf 1880, Ark. He had a son, William C. born in KY, ca. 1812, but where in KY? I have hunted everywhere for this birth. I wish I knew which County this was in. In all they had 11 children, The only names that I have are, William C., Ryal (Riley), and Ambrose Henry Seviere Bryant. There is a Richard into this somewhere, I just don't know how he fits in. I have a copy of a military land grant to Auston and here is how it reads; "Auston Bryant, Father and heir at law of Richard Bryant, deceased." This was signed by James Monroe, & dated; 27 Nov 1820. Rightly this states that Auston was Richard's father, but I can't make any of the dates fit. I would have to think this was for the War of 1812. What do's "Heir at Law" mean? I would be extremely grateful for any help. Wanda Norman
