    3. Don't forget the Y-DNA testing participant must be a direct line male descendant of the BRYANT / BRIANT ancestor. If your line descends through a daughter of William BRIANT b ca 1812 the Y-DNA direct line will not go father to son etc. down through the generations. You will need a participant who is descended through a son of William BRIANT b ca 1812. -----Original Message----- From: bryant-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:bryant-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Cindy Tyson Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 11:04 AM To: bryant@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRYANT] DNA testing and my Bryants I would love to find a male relative who would consent to being tested. I know there are at least three males in my line but none will agree to it. I do not know these men but others have approached them. I am at a dead-end. Just in case someone has happened on my line it is as follows: William Briant b. abt 1812 in NC married Mary (Polly) Ramey of Scott Co, VA. They are on the 1870 census for Scott Co but seem to disappear after that. I later pick up one daughter and her spouse in 1890. I descend from this line. There was a son born to William and Mary but I've not been able to find his line either. I have what little information I have posted on my website at www.tribalpages.com/tribes/clean01 if anyone would like to see the line as I have it. 3. I do not know that the William Bryant listed in the Madison County 1860 census was connected to my line, but he was in the same county where an Elizabeth Bryant married married a William Sear in 1858. William Bryant's household raises many questions. Listed as a 28-year-old blacksmith, he was born in England. Presumably Emma, 22, b. England, was his wife. The two girls in the household, Kate 17 and Salina 11, were also born in England. The other person in the household was an Elizabeth Cook, age 23 b. England. The two girls would be too old to be children of William Bryant and Emma. Does anyone recognize any of these Bryants? My ancestor was Lizzie BRYANT, but unfortunately I know very little about her. Census records say she was born in England (one says New Jersey). Her daughter, Elizabeth Sear/Sears, was born to Lizzie and William Sears/Sears in Hartford, Connecticut, 1866. Elizabeth married in Idaho in 1883, but I can find no record there of her mother. Lizzie may have died or divorced as I believe that William had another wife in 1870. I wonder if Lizzie could have been related to the William Bryant above. Roberta

    2. Linda - This is a shot in the dark. I'm looking for the parents (names unknown but think pershaps the father's name was William) of Thomas Jefferson Bryant who was my g-g-father. Census records indicate he was born in GA 1826-27 bithplace unknown. I have not been able to connect him with any of the Bryants at this point as I'm dead ended without names of parents or siblings. I can furnish a little more data on him if needed. There was a William Bryant listed in the 1840 Chambers County Ala census whom I think was possible related. Reuben Bryant who married Nancy Tolleson was a brother to my gggg grandfather, William F. Bryant. William married Delilah Dillard, daughter of Joseph and Priscilla Wilkins Dillard about 1811. Sometime in the 1830s they left Spartanburg by wagon train and settled in Calhoun County, AL. They were buried in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, Ohatchee, AL - he in 1864 and she in 1875. Their oldest son, Terrell Bryant (my ggg grandfather) married Frances Charlotte Reid about 1836 in Spartanburg. 2. Hi, Abigail, Our Bryants are indeed related. The birthplace of some of their children is still debated - either Spartanburg or Calhoun Co., AL. Their oldest children were twin boys - Alfred (sometimes written Alford) and Alberry Bryant. Afred (my gg grandfather) married Mary Ann Elizabeth Phillips about 1866 in Calhoun Co., AL. By 1870-1871 they(Alfred and Mary Ann) had moved to Union Co., MS. I would love the exchange information with you and look forward to hearing from you. One of my BANKS cousins is married to a lady who's father was John Grady BRYANT and grandfather was William David BRYANT and I believe they were from the Gadsden, Ala, Etowah Co., area. I have wondered for a long time if they were related to my Floyd Co., Ga., Rome area BRYANT line who were originally from Spartanburg, SC BRYANT line. If anyone knows which BRYANT line these two gentlemen were from pls. contact me. Thanks In Advance, Abigail Banks Dennison Franklin, NC abanks@dnet.net abanks4@verizon.net
