May I suggest that we think in a different way. Currently The Bryant's have 27 sample of DNA on Y Search and 52 samples with the company I tested with. I am looking for descants of these two John Bryant to be tested for YDNA at Y67 Our family has two matching samples that tie us together to 1750 S.C. My Y-DNA is tested for 67 markers. Those markers will only differ by one, two, or three if I am related to other Bryant. It is like a bar code that goes father to son does not change much for 10 or 15 generations. Do any of your Bryants have Y-DNA on file so we can compare to see if we related. Peggy... It looks like you "subscribed" instead of "unsubscribed", according to the last posting you made. I copied this for your problem: "To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BRYANT-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message." Remember the ONLY word that should be in the subject line, and in the body of the message is "unsubscribe" (without the quotes). No "signatures", text, or anything else. Good Luck! This is sad I just had a e-mail from a Bryant from England now down under that stated that he was not get tested for DNA. But his tree he was sure of back to the Roman's, Other wise his tree look very good I ask him to get tested and post on Y- search so other could connect on Y-Search. He is one of the people who think DNA stands for DO NOT ASK. What county in IL are you looking. I do have some info on Bryants in the area where the Des Moines River Joins the Mississippi River Il ,IA, and AR how ever this was a big area for the Irish in the 1840 to 1860. Our line does have some connection to NJ and name Elizabeth. This is a long shot but who knows. 100 tries may get one hit. John b. ====================================================== Someone recently wrote about Bryants who went from England to Canada to Illinois, and I wonder if anyone whose ancestors followed that pattern recognizes my ancestor, Lizzie BRYANT. Unfortunately I know very little about her. Most census records say she was born in England (one says New Jersey). A few clues place her in Illinois for a time, and she may have married there. Her daughter, Elizabeth Sear/Sears, was born to Lizzie and William Sears/Sears in Hartford, Connecticut, 1866. Elizabeth married in Idaho, 1883, but I can find no record there of her mother. Lizzie may have died or divorced before that time. I believe that William had another wife by 1880. I welcome any suggestions. I am aware that I need a direct male descendant for DNA testing. I've heard there may be one who descends from William Briant's son John. I've been told he is getting on in years and does not take well to 'modern day' things. I continue to post my 'lost' kin to the list in hopes that one day someone will connect and can fill in the blanks. I have a similar problem with my Hood line. All the known male descendants have died. Thanks for the suggestions. Happy hunting. Cindy
