    3. For John Bryant: This is for your consideration - have you seen the Williams DNA Database as maintained by Adrian Williams? This is a good site and although we're not talking Williams but Bryant he may be able to give you some insight as to how he collects and catalogs his data. If I had a direct male Bryant ancestor he wouldn't have a choice I'd order the kit and wait for him to open his mouth and in would go the swab. It's not like you're using a needle. Ellie Call

    3. There are programs to set up a web site call DNA Pat we do not have the data as Bryant's to make it worthwhile Y-search works good but I can not go on there yet it spooks all my NPE's I work with my matches and feed the data to Dennis Wright Irish Type II website he will post every thing that on y-search.What would really help if more 4th cousin would get test at Y67 to give the Bryant' several reference lines to compare new samples to. Of course not all Bryant's are Irish Type III. Wild oats and that women are the ones interested in roots makes it hard to get samples. 1. [BRYANT] DNA testing
    2. John Bryant
    3. where this started There were two Bryant men that have not tested for DNA. Posting on this board. I wish they would get tested, So we would have a database of lines to find an answers to these questions. I have test for Y67, SNP's from familytreedna and from EA. That creates a bar code from junk DNA that not used by the police or paternity people that last for as many as 20 generations. Of the 67 markers some mutate making it possible to calculate to the most recent common ancestor within a couple of generations. I am interested because I have no data on Josiah Briant (b.abt 1750) brothers or 1st cousin in SC. Regarding the last post in on Indiana Bryant's it doubtful I connect to those Bryant's because of timing, but without the other line tested how do we know. I do know this I match with O'Hara PFNY5 Townsend SR2ZD McLain J6J7J Bryant D642J and even that some of these people will not answer my e-mail they all have possible connection to Josiah Briant in Fountain County to be check out and are listed on a public database Y search all but J6J7J Y37 are tested at Y67 so these matches can not be do to randomness. I am tired of being berated for being the 1st on the block using this method of research. I have graduate work in Statistics and Probability but is 40 years old I have spent the last four months studying how to use DNA in research. It has only been in the last month rootsweb has allowed these post on DNA on their message broads. So it NEW! 1. [BRYANT] Thomas N. Bryan(t)
    2. Bob Telerski
    3. I would like to jump in on the discussion of Bryants from the Carolina's. I have Thomas N. Bryan(t) born in NC in 1817. He married Mary Ann Unknown (1837) who was born in GA in 1818. Most of their children were born in AL. Sometime around 1845 the family moved to Grimes Co. TX. Thomas died in 1862. The children were Elvina Charity, Naomi, Jonathan Wade, Steven H., Andrew, and Thomas Jr., It has been recommended that the wife is Mary Ann Pullen of Giles Co.TN because her mother was a Fuqua and her daughter Naomi married a Fuqua. The problems I keep finding are the dates of Mary Ann Pullen don't fit this family. I also can't find a census that lists this group of children. Thanks, Marge

    3. West LaFayette is in Tippecanoe county. In the 1830 Josiah Briant census. There are many extra children in Fountain county near the town of Attica less than 20 miles away. Near Josiah near coal creek is a MaLain that may be one of these children. Josiah brother Gabriel lived near Lusk Mill in Parke county about 25 miles south of Attica he died in 1832 some of his children are missing. Including a possiable James that live in Coal Creek township Montgomery county I do not have the census year handy. We believe he is the son of Gabriel. Do you know of any living desentants of James. Josiah daughter Malida married a John Bailey May 19, 1833 the 6th marraige in Laporte county. they move to Lowell in Lake county. 3. This is my position on this matter taken months ago It is about truth. I have matches with my 4th cousin and 2 O'briens plus 16 other surnames. http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/genealogy-dna/2007-01/1168401893 We in our line have had a lot of early deaths of men and who knows what else. I am now working with a man who has had two surname changes in his line. He was most likely born in Fountain County IN move then adopted in LaPorte County IN Then his ancestor went to the gold rush in CA from there to Australia. He now lives in Canada. I am working to get a bigger database for all Bryant's and related families. There was most likely a battle in Scotland and everyone was left without a Dad or transported leaving their family behind to fend for themselves. I am the lucky? I match with a Briant to 1750 I have 4 matches that will not responed to e-mails. I listed names and births also place, but the reply was do a DNA. I think this DNA is a bit out of line, and stops the search for Bryant's, It seems to me that the blood line is more to you then the love given to the children by the Bryant's that could not have children. Your Bryant line might not have gone on if not for the adopted children, seems there was a problem of fathering their own. I am a Bryant, so was my father, and if my grandfather did not love his foster, step, or adopted father he would not have taken the name. 2. John Bryant
    3. I am of a age to remember when my Dad bought a tractor to replace the horses on our farm in the 1930's. Lowell Chambers one of my cousin once removed who live across the gavel road from us did not change over until several years later. In my DNA matches several people of different surname some of which had written books on their family history, that now have to rewrite, because there appears to have been several adoptions or widows remarry after their husbands early death. So much for documenting research without DNA it with the horse and buggy days but some take longer that others. John Bryant In couple of years expect the standard test to be Y100 for Y-DNA. By information in Bruce Walsh paper, paper trials will not be as important as DNA at that time. Here is a link to that paper for your reference. http://www.genetics.org/cgi/reprint/158/2/897.pdf

    3. That Josiah Briant/Bryant was born in S.C. about 1750 (family history, written 1920) That he live in Charity, VA from 1778 to 1794. (land record) He had five sons Ambrose, Josiah, William, John, Gabriel William born 1785 descendant y-search D642J Josiah born 1784 descendant is #57501 at the O'Brien project these two samples 65/67 at y67, the best test on the market today. They are part of a group called Irish Type III that are from the south western part of Ireland That any descendant of Josiah born of Josiah brothers or male 1st cousins would match DNA within in 64/67 if they were tested for y-DNA AT Y67 this is not a guess, it very near a fact!!!! I have much more information post 1785 and general idea about the history in Ireland with leads to DNA matches in Ireland, I will be happy to share with my DNA matches My Phylogenetic tree http://au.geocities.com/t120r61/Phylogram.htm John Bryant R1b1c* http://www.familytreedna.com/public/r1b/ Irish Type III http://au.geocities.com/t120r61/Irish_Type_III.htm #57501 at O’Brien project http://www.familytreedna.com/public/obrien/ Josiah Bryant Cooperative Research Group http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ourbryants/index.htm
