I have been watching these emails about the bryant DNA testing. May I ask why it has to be a man? I am a bryant, what is different from my DNA than my brothers. Was just wondering. I have a William Bryant who had sons Isaac, William Patrious, and Leslie. I don't have his wife's name. I am going on the assumption that Isaac is my line. He and unknown had Francis b. 02 Mar 1787 who married Susannah Griggs b. 1792, about 1819. My line continues with their son, Jared, born 02 Jan. 1820 in Shefford, Quebec. I am looking for information on Isaac Bryant, father of Francis, and his wife. And his parents who are supposed to be William and unknown. Isaac was born about 1767 and his father, William about 1747. They were granted land in Potton, PQ and Hemingford, Que. as Loyalists. Does anyone know of this family or have reference to the individuals? Thank you for any information on them, Lynn My notes on Bryant: Land Grants: Leslie Bryant Potton Brome 200 1803 27-May B Grants 164 226 Isaac Bryant Potton Brome 200 1803 27-May B Grants 164 226 - Isaac Bryant Hemingford Huntingdon 200 1803 17-Jun B Grants 143 486 - Lynn I searched four books on the early history of shefford and the founders of the eastern townships in old old books and that was what there was for records. That 84th highland regiment was made up with people from Ny, the Carolinas, scots and irish and people from Nova Scotia In the Loyalist Lists by Paul Bunnell the only William Bryant listed is from Nova Scotia. Research the Captain McLean 84th regiment and see what you find. Your Francis Bryant was not born in Shefford or Potton. there weren't any Bryant's in early records of Shefford, the Savage guy was from Alburgh and brought Bell and Griggs with him but not Bryant's. _http://genforum.genealogy.com/bryant/messages/454.html_ (http://genforum.genealogy.com/bryant/messages/454.html) I am a direct desendant of William Patrious Bryant of pei Canada William Patricious Bryant was born in Birmingham England Isaac Bryant of Hemingford & Fort St Johns (Montreal) 1790's. Thank you very much. That was fun, however my best match was only 14 out of 20 so I guess my brother's is an oddball. I know we go back to Plymouth, Mass in the early 1600's so I guess there isn't a close connection to the more southern Bryants. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Bryant" <jofbryant@hotmail.com> To: <bryant@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 11, 2007 12:03 PM Subject: Re: [BRYANT] DNA testing at sorenson > May be this will help? > > Here is my results! > > http://tinyurl.com/2dqcen > > Click on search again at bottom and put your values In! > > > > John Bryant > 6JN52 Y-Search > R1b1c* > http://www.familytreedna.com/public/r1b/ > Irish Type III > http://au.geocities.com/t120r61/Irish_Type_III.htm > #57501 at O'Brien project > http://www.familytreedna.com/public/obrien/ > Josiah Bryant Cooperative Research Group > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ourbryants/index.htm > > > > > ----Original Message Follows---- > From: "Joel & Janiece Bryant" <janiecebryant@cfl.rr.com> > Reply-To: bryant@rootsweb.com > To: <bryant@rootsweb.com> > Subject: Re: [BRYANT] DNA testing at sorenson > Date: Wed, 11 Jul 2007 11:52:56 -0400 > > How do you enter your Family Tree test results at Sorenson's and what are > HVR1 and HVR2? > > Joel > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <rhodabryant@comcast.net> > To: <bryant@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, July 10, 2007 10:15 PM > Subject: Re: [BRYANT] DNA testing at sorenson > > > > Oh Wow! Joyce, so far the MTDNA has done thing except put me in contact with others who share the halogroup (mine is H which is from Europe) and mutations that I do. So far, 174 share the same low resolution, while only 29 share the high resolution (good explanation at www.familytreedna.com). However, I have not found a common ancestor from these groups, so the origin probably goes back a long, long way (expansion times for Europe range between 35,000 and 50,000 years). MTDNA is passed between females only (i.e. I have my mother's, which she received from her mother, which she received from her mother....and on and on...) Male children of a woman also have her MTDNA, but do not pass it on. So, having a surname is of little use in tracing an ancestor. More like finding a needle in a haystack. I hope this answers your question. Rhoda -------------- Original message -------------- From: "joyce wilson" <momajo54@hotmail.com> > Rhoda, > > Just what did doing your mtdna do for you? Hope 4th Bryant male cousin shows up on a database. That why a big data base of Bryant tested is important. Johnb. I'm reading the Y DNA emails with great envy. My 3-great-grandmother Nancy Bryant was from NC; married William W. Williamson from AL, and died 1891 in Hardin County, TN. I've done my MTDNA, but unfortunately that doesn't help at all in this case. So... the envy. :-) Rhoda Copeland Bryant -------------- Original message -------------- From: "John Bryant" <jofbryant@hotmail.com> > Hi, > William how many marker did you ordered. > If your DNA is Irish Type III, I have a lot of none public Data > There are 5 Bryan's ; 19 'O'Brien's; that are currently Irish Type III > The ones that I talk to seem to have good documentation. Hi, William how many marker did you ordered. If your DNA is Irish Type III, I have a lot of none public Data There are 5 Bryan's ; 19 'O'Brien's; that are currently Irish Type III The ones that I talk to seem to have good documentation. They were from Surry County NC. When you fill out your personal page at familytreeDNA you will have the option to compare to their whole data base and join surname projects. Then you can download to y-search to compare to their database. john b. John I have submitted my DNA into the Family Tree project, my results will not be done until the 20th of August, can you tell me if my results will be compared to all various spellings of Bryan, Bryant , O'brien. I'm hoping so, as it looks as tho only 53 in Bryan spelling. As I have found in my research the last name spelling of mine did include the t on the end, Bryant. I believe at some point the t was dropped from the Bryan surname. Rhoda, Just what did doing your mtdna do for you? I have been thinking of sending a kit to a very aged aunt. This would follow back with Boydstun, Smith,, Hawkins, Hickman lines. Nothing to to with Bryants---. But I have been wondering just what exactly the mtdna does for you. If this mtdna might be something that I would want later for future research or what? I contacted the Hawkins group leader and he said that it would not do much for me concerning Hawkins. But I still wonder, just what it would show me. ???? In other words what would I get for my paternal aunts dna? What would I get if I had my brothers done etc.??? I have OBryant/Bryant lines though my great grandmother, fathers side so am at a dead end there I think. I cannot get beyond my ggggrandfather Caleb OBriatn from S.Carolina and then Ga. Have not made a positive connection yet to a male of that line to encourage them for Ydna Thanks Joyce >From: "John Bryant" <jofbryant@hotmail.com> >Reply-To: bryant@rootsweb.com >To: bryant@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [BRYANT] DNA Report- progress is slow for Bryant's >Date: Sun, 08 Jul 2007 20:57:27 -0500 > >Hope 4th Bryant male cousin shows up on a database. > >That why a big data base of Bryant tested is important. > >Johnb. > > >I'm reading the Y DNA emails with great envy.
