I have just made a connection to my Bryant line and would like to share it with the maillist and see if someone on this list might have a connection: Grandmother-Willie Grace Bryant b. 1-24-1906 d. 7-7-1989(m. I haven't received anything either and I'm on the list. I think it's like the one person said about opening certain mail. My sister had sent me several forward on mail and I dumped it right away. She is now getting the x-rated stuff and couldn't figure out how. Now I can pass on to her the info all of you have mentioned. Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know that I also don't believe that the junk mail and porn is to do with the List. I haven't received any of the mail either. Dianna Bryant
To whom it may concern: I don't receive any porn mail either. I am not sure it is generated from the list. Susan
I just wanted to say that I haven't received any porn stuff either, but a few weeks ago I did receive a notice that this web site I am subscribed to had been exposed to the Happy99 virus. Luckily for me I always start reading my e-mail from the bottom of the list and got a warning of the virus before I actually got to the e-mail that had the Happy99 attachment. So, when I saw the e-mail with the attachment I deleted it. As far as the porn goes I haven't received any solicitations and I am glad since that would just be something else that I would have to delete. I am still looking for any information on my grandfather Jonathan Alexander Bryant who was born in 1859 in maybe Alabama. He died in 1922 in Marshall County, Ok. His wife Sara Emmy Gray was born Dec 15, 1869 maybe in Missouri. Her mother's maiden name was Mann. I have heard that Jonathan's father was named George Wesley Bryant, but really don't know for sure anything about him. I don't have any names for my grandfathers' siblings. There are a lot of Bryants out there, but none of them seem to be connected to Jonathan Alexander Bryant. Thanks for reading this, Christine Bryant Scott
Hi all, As a BRYANT listmember, here's some feedback: I'm another one who hasn't received any of the junk or porn mail under discussion. So I doubt it's got anything to do with this list. Jan Carpenter Minnetonka, MN
Hello, I'm very new to this list, in fact I haven't even had time to post anything to it yet. But I'm on several other lists. As to the porn, I haven't gotten any from this list, but from a couple of other "open" lists. I was told by my son in law that if you see something on your email listing that isn't familiar, just don't open it at all. Just delete it right away and after a couple of tries, the sender will remove you from their list. He said that many email have what they call, automatic reply messages. If you open the email from one of these guys, then it sends a message back to them somehow that you did open it and they get the idea that you are interested. So I followed his advice and they stopped right away. It may help, just thought I'd put my two cents in. As to the Bryants that I need help with, mine are from the Mass. area. I have a problem with them going to Canada at one point. Don't know where. I'll be posting a HELP later this week. Linda
LadyD, Molly and Mary, Thanks for the advise on how to get rid of porn junk mail! I had another subscriber write to me and tell me that she was leaving the list because of the porn mail that she thought she'd gotten from this list. I couldn't argue that, because of course someone MIGHT be lurking here gathering our addresses to bombard us with the junk mail, but I personally have not gotten any of it. I do have a friend/cousin on the Martin line who has started getting a lot of mail like that tho, and she's not on the Bryant list or any of it's variations. She is on some lists, but it's awfully hard to guess where these people may have gotten her name. Now, hopefully, back to Bryant's? :-) Thanks again! Kay
I would like to response to this. If you think that you have the Happy99 virus there is more that you have to do if you have opened the file than just delete it. If it has not been opened you can delete the exe file no problems. If you have opened it please go to the following web site and it will tell you what to do it clean it from your system: http://www.iipnetwk.org/KillHappy99Virus.htm I recieved this address yesterday from one of the other maillist that I am on about how to fight the porno e-mails. It is a list of many of the providers and who to contact when someone sends you an unwanted e-mail: http://www.iipnetwk.org/KillHappy99Virus.htm At 02:09 PM 9/6/99 -0600, Ronald K Myatt wrote: >Hi, > > > >We are also on the list it would be my guess that someone has the happy 99 >virus in their computer. Hi, We are also on the list it would be my guess that someone has the happy 99 virus in their computer. I think it is a terrible thing that people dream up such garbage. What a waste of talent that could be used to do good. If anyone has opened an email attachment with a beautiful fireworks display chances are their computer has the virus. This particular virus although not destructive to data, sends the first 50 names on your email list an invitation to visit adult sites. To see if it has been opened in your computer go to Start, then to Find, next to files and folders. Type in "Happy 99" in the 'named' box, "my computer" in the 'look' in box and click on 'find now'. If the file is active, the location in your computer will be displayed. Go to that file and delete it. Do not open it or look at it!!!! Delete it and empty your trash to make sure it is gone. Last week I found a computer with the virus in three different files. I also recommend purchasing a virus scanning program like Norton Utilities or Macafee, both are excellent, but nothing can ever prevent all virus invasions. Also do not open attachments to email if you are uncertain as to their origin or content. I have luckily avoided getting porno-related materials sent to my e-mail but since I joined this mailing list, I get them all the time! How is that? Is somone on the Bryant mailing list giving our e-mails to someone So bummed out. Who ever is responsible is a big fat LAME-OOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Molly Bryant
I have just subscribed to the list and hope that someone can help me to get somewhere with my ancestry. In spite of months of research, I have not been able to unravel a genealogical conundrum. My father, Dennis Roy, was born 28 October 1927 at 31 Wordsworth Road, Wealdstone, Middlesex, the eldest son of Lillian Frances Emma SEWELL. She married some six years later to Henry Reginald BRYANT. At which time, I assume that the birth certificate was amended, and the note "Adopted A J Selwood, Deputy Superintendent Registrar" added. There is no indication of whom the father might be. Rather unhelpfully, while following that line, Henry Reginald (who changed his name to Reginald Henry by the time he married), was born 3 February 1904, to Clara Amelia Bryant, at the Union Workhouse, Christchurch, Southampton. There is no indication of whom the father is. Amelia was born 12 August 1882 in Canford, Dorset to George Bryant, and Ellen Bryant, formerly Lovell. I would be grateful to hear if anyone has researched these lines, or if they can shed any light on how I might proceed from here. Thanks In advance Alison Bryant Also researching Sewell, Hertfordshire. George Sewell, father of Lillian Frances Sewell (LFS born 1906). Foster, Hertfordshire. George Foster, Father of Henry Alexander Foster (HAF born ABT 1883). Crowsley, Hemel Hempstead, Herts. Thomas Crowsley, father of Ellen Crowsley (EC born ABT 1880). Pye: London. William Pye married Eliza. Parents of George Pye, (GP born 31 12 1837, in Southgate, London Osborn: London. Diana Osborn married George Pye on 19 2 1860 in Enfield, London.
I have had a couple of URL sent to me this week from other maillist that I belong to that I thought I would pass on this is list: http://users.erinet.com/31363/fordand.htm They are Historians and Genealogists Collectors of Antique Family Photos, Family Bibles, and Family Documents I found these listed at there site: BRYAN, Frank; taken by Beach Studio, Earlville, Iowa; found Lubbock, Texas 27 Jun 1999 BRYAN, Jane; taken by Severn Studio, Joliet, Ill; found Anderson, SC 27 Feb 1999 BRYANT, Lew, "brother to Jim Cray's wife's father Harry"; taken by C. Hempsted, Coshocton, Ohio; found Coshocton, Ohio 30 Mar 1996. They are photos they have found and are for sell. I don't know the cost and do not usually pass on info about geneaolgy info begin sold but thought someone on this list might match these names. http://www.universitylake.org/primarysources.html This site is packed with history. It has a lot of info that is strickly history but then there are list of things such as the The Freemen of Massachusetts Bay, 1630 - 1636 Hope someone finds some use out of these sites. Debbie

That looks like a super site and there is no way to keep up with all that's out there for we researchers unless we share favorite sites we've found. Kay
Don't know who all has seen this site or not, but it looks pretty useful. http://members.aol.com/rprost/passenger.html#top hope that it helps someone.
I am new to this list and would like to contact anyone who may be researching ancestors and/or descendants of my line. THOMAS BRYANT (1832 - 1911) and MARY /MARION(1835 - 1903) were both born in Ky. In 1880 they were living in WASHINGTON CO., KY, DIST #5 NORTH. All of their children were born in KY. They are JOHN -1857, ULYSSES GRANT - 1864, WM - 1866, EDGAR - 1868, DELBERT - 1870, VICTORIA - 1872, LESLEY - 1874, and LOLIE - 1878. ULYSSES GRANT BRYANT (1864 - 1937) and MARY KATHERINE MARTIN (1869 -1947) were both born and married (1884) in WASHINGTON CO, KY. (It's possible GRANT was born in MERCER CO., KY) They had at least their first child in KY and possibly their first three. The rest were born in OHIO, probably MERCER CO., OHIO they lived in NEPTUNE, OHIO which is right outside of SALINA in MERCER CO. Word of mouth states that they were living in MAYSVILLE, KY right outside of LEXINGTON, KY prior to that. Their children are CECELIA PEARL (1887-1959), EDGAR M. (1890), LESLIE R. (1893), LELA MARIE (1896), EVADA MAE (1899), JOHN R. (1900), ERNEST E. (1903), HENRY H. (1905) ALMETTA DEE (1914). Cecelia Pearl married WILLIAM WIRRIG then settled in PIQUA, MIAMI CO., OHIO. Lela Marie married LOWRY Evada Mae married COBURN Almetta Dee married BOWERS I am trying to locate descendants and also make progress on ancestors. I am stuck on THOMAS BRYANT in KENTUCKY (1832-1911). If you have information please contact me by e-mail [email protected]
Do these two census listings ring a bell with any of you listers? I just found them today (finally -- hurray!!), so I know nothing more except that they belong to my husband's line. I'd like to connect with one of y'all if possible: 1880 Limestone Co., TX census James BRYANT, 30, farmer, TX/GA/GA (my husband's great-grandfather) L.V., wife, 30, TX/TN/TN Mary, dau, 7, TX/TX/TX *Tom, son, 5, TX/TX/TX (my husband's grandfather) May, dau, 3, TX/TX/TX Lizzie, dau, 1, TX/TX/TX I think the listing below is the father of the above James BRYANT (no proof yet, but I've got "that" feeling) -- resided next door to James: H. BRYANT, 70, farmer, GA/VA/VA (maybe my husband's 2nd great-grandfather) E.F., wife, 50, GA/NC/NC Jeff, son, 18, TX/GA/GA Edward, son, 14, TX/GA/GA I also found two other listing for BRYANT in the same district and not far from where James & H. BRYANT resided. I'm thinking they may be brothers to James and sons of H. BRYANT. Again, no proof, just "that" feeling: Addison BRYANT, farmer, 27, TX/GA/GA E.C., wife, 27, TX/TN/TN L.E., dau, 5, TX/TX/TN Claude, son, 1, TX/TX/TN Ervin BRYANT, farmer, 28, TX/GA/GA F.R., wife, 22, GA/GA/GA Maud, dau, 2, TX/TX/GA Can anyone else claim these families? Would love to find someone else researching this line. Regards, Neva
