    1. Re: [BRYANT] Re: BRYANT, GA>Southern IL: Indian or African?
    2. Doug, Every thing that I have read states that "Mulatto" is half black and half white. Even the census identifies individuals as M instead of W or B or I (Indian). I have found some Mulattos in my family line and accepted the fact as given at that point that no only did my ancestors own slaves but also sleep and had children by them as well. The same as Thomas Jefferson is known is history to have done. 1. [BRYANT] Bryants - AR, TX, LA
    2. Mark Cline
    3. My earliest ancestor is John/Jefferson Fred Bryant b: 1868 Arkansas (we think) and d: 1938 Anacoco, Louisiana. Married Willie Alberta Deckard in 1891 in Bowie County, TX. She d: 1906. He married Callie Bean in 1913. John/Jefferson Fred Bryant had one brother Thomas Bryant (that we know of, we think there were more) that lived in the Texarkana area and may have married a Melia Harris and had 3 children, one possibly named Milton. This is all I know about this line other than 2 photographs. Any information would be great! Pam [email protected] no website

    2. Barbara, We have found that in several insteades that individuals in our family had the O' dropped from their surname (whether or not they were aware of it or not --I am not sure). It could we be related in the distant past. Very interesting thought. Janie O'Briant In a message dated 02/04/2000 5:29:45 PM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: << David, I have absolutely nothing more about Lewis Franklin Bryant. As I understand it the person that did this research believed that he had come from Great Britain because prior to him there had been no other Bryant in SC. That may or may not be a good reason for the assumption that he came from Great Britain, but it is all that I have. At this point I would just be happy to have the name of his wife. She apparently had died before he did since she was not mentioned in his will but that is all I know. Barbara >>

    1. [BRYANT] Bryant / Lancaster
    2. Hello, On one of the recent postings there was some info about Bryant and Lancaster marrying into each other lines. My Grandmother was Addie Mae Lancaster who married Lawrence Elliott Bryant. I' am just starting out in the genealogy stuff, but any info that you can share would be greatly appreciated. My understanding that Lawrence father was Hiram Bryant and that it was not a pleasant home life for him. ANd that he (Lawrence) worked the railroad. And any info on my grandmother's side would also be appreciated. Barb (Bryant) Derendal [email protected]

    3. My earlist ancestor known. Lucy Bryant 1/2 Cherokee widow was given 640 acre reservation 1817 because she did not want to go West. There were 7 listed in her household. Her reservation was near Helen, Ga. Her son John born 1775 was taken from her at an early age and carried to South Carolina. He married Frances Nance of near Spartenburg,SC and lived in Union Co. SC where he is listed on the Putman (Union) Baptist Church 1824. His daughter Thursa md Joshua Springer in Lauderdale Co. Ala. Dec. 25, 1825. According to a previous researcher over 200 wagons left Union Co. SC and went to Muscle Shoals,Ala. crossed the Tennessee River because it was wide, flat, solid bottom and ankle deep. Being inside the loop of the Tennessee River they spread into Lauderdale Co. Ala, Lawrence/Wayne/Giles/ Lincoln and Humphreys Cos. Tn. To get to West Tennessee they had to cross the river again at Reynoldsburg Humphreys Co. where a ferry was operating. John Bryant b. 1775 came into Gibson Co. Tn by 1827 where he died in 1856 and left a will naming 13 children and one set of grandchildren. If your Bryant ancestor is part Indian from North Georgia, you just may be from one of the 7 in the household of Lucy Bryant. Only John Bryant is known to be a son according to depositions given in the late 1800's. Jere

    1. [BRYANT] My Bryant Line.
    2. Marvin Welborn
    3. Here is a report on my Bryant line. I'm in need of making a connection with Needam BRYANT. Born possibly in VA circa 1700s. Migrates to SC and eventually to GA or AL. He had two daughters: Sarah and Elizabeth, both of whom married WELBORNs. Individual Detail Subject* Needham BRYANT: _________________________________________________________________ Father* Unknown Mother* Unknown __________________________________________________________________ Note2* Note: Needham Bryant; in Georgia, ca. 1795. From: "Tom Haskins" <[email protected]> To: "Marvin Welborn" <[email protected]>, "Gerald (AaronTer) Johnson" <[email protected]> Subject: RE: Needham Bryant Date sent: Fri, 3 Sep 1999 07:47:31 -0400 Dear Marvin and Gerald, I was looking at the Forum and noticed Marvin has mentioned Needham Bryant. I have been redoing my Lancaster notebook and organizing it better and I do know that the line of Arthur Bryant/Briant/sometimes Bryan has the Needham Bryant in it in NC and GA. I had forgotten about this line. Arthur Bryant and his wife Elizabeth Peele who was the daughter of Robert Peele and Elizabeth Edgerton of Northampton Co., NC had at least 10 children that I know. Two of them married into my Lancaster family from Wayne /Dobbs Co., NC. My Lancasters came from Isle of Wright Co. and Surry/Sussex Co., VA. I had gotten my notes out to check on the name Lancaster Welbourne who is in VA in 1800 and is with a Simon Wilbourne in that area of VA. The Lancasters and Bryant /Briant families were Quakers and are well documented in the records there. Arthur Bryant was born c. 1728 and died on Dec 15, 1803 . Elizabeth Peele was born July 9, 1736. I probably have better dates somewhere but not on this sheet. Children that I have are: 1. William born about 1754 in Northampton Co., NC 2. Joel b. 1756 in Northampton Co., NC 3. Mary born 1758 in Northampton Co., NC m. Robert Griffin 4. Elizabeth b. 1760 Wayne Co., NC d. March 9, 1818 in Wayne Co., NC m. Levi Lancaster on Dec 12, 1778 5. Catherine Bryant b. 1762 Wayne Co., NC ,/ Dec 13. 1783 to Rice Price 6. Willis b. 1766 7. Robert b. 1768 8. James b. 1770 9. Sarah b. June 28, 1771 m. Wright Lancaster and 2nd to John Lowe Butler (I have better dates on the ones that married Lancasters too ) 10. Henry b. 1771 As you see I have not followed the boys BUT In Burke Co., GA in 1795 my ancestor William Sanders Lancaster and Needham Bryant (Needom Briant) signed the Yazoo Fraud Land Petition. The original 7 petitions are in the special collection room in the Uni of GA Library at Athens. William S. Lancaster and Needham Bryant signed the 7th petition. Needham and William were in Burke Co., GA in 1795 we know from this petition. I also suspect that Needham was in Washington Co., Montgomery Co. and Pulaski Co., GA with Lancaster early on. As you see there is a missing generation and I do not know which of the above sons is the father of Needham Bryant. Burke Co., GA is on the SC line. I am sure with a bit of research this will connect your line. Somewhere I have seen Needham Bryant in connection with some of my husband's lines in the area that was Washington Co., GA. All these counties are burned Washington Co., Montgomery Co. and Twiggs Co., GA. Makes it hard go for some of our lines. Maybe your can connect. I also know some of the Lancasters went to KY from Wayne Co., NC Carolyn Wellborn Haskins Note3* Re: Needham Bryant/Bryan of Virginia Posted by Karen King on December 18, 1998 at 18:26:28: In Reply to: Needham Bryant/Bryan of Virginia posted by J. Theilacker on December 07, 1998 at 21:03:35: I am researching Needham Bryant/Bryan. My information leads me to believe he was the father of Sarah Bryant born abt 1800, who married William Welborn. William and Sarah had a son named Needham.
