I am Susan Bundy the List Administrator and I am passing along a warning on a Genealogy Scam that was email to me from the Maryland Genealogy Coordinator of Rootsweb.com The old genealogy scam is back www.genseekers.com also known as Family Discovery.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. GUESS WHAT? The cancellation email bounces. You can not contact anyone. If you mail them the request to cancel, it comes back as no such address! Does this surprise you? If you read through the offer, there is no daytime telephone to call to ask questions, no technical support...that is why it is a big SCAM! One person who recently fell for the come on had his/her account dinged not once, but twice! Please pass this on to everyone that you know to help stop this scam. Whenever you get contacted by a offer, be sure there are means of contacts such as; telephone numbers, address to business, email address to company support. And test them before ordering. I always call my orders in, like to Heritage Quest or Genealogy.com and get a order number and name of the person helping me. Be careful out there while you are enjoying and exploring your family research. Permission is granted to pass this on.
