This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team If anyone has an interest in finding alternative communication possibilities and/or suggestions for alternatives, please send a note to the list to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di
We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di
HI Diane I am doing okay with my Brummel/Brummell research and waiting till the summer to do some research in our archives here in Maryland. I have a Joseph Brummel born apparently in Anne Arundel Co., Md and his Father, Joseph Brummel, died when was young and his Mother, remarried and moved back to England and my Joseph moved up into Baltimore County (now Carroll as of 1837) and married Elizabeth Fowble and their son Joseph, married Caroline Taylor and i come down thrugh their daughter, Alice Christine Brummel who married Joel Thomas Sykes, and their son Charles Joesph Sykes married Susan Anna Elizabeth Walsh, and their son, Russell Evan Sykes married Grace May Kenyon, and they are my parents. The Joseph Brummel who came to Anne Arundel Co., Md about 1740/50 is the one I am looking into and I am hoping that my trip to Annapolis, Md. will clear that up. I live only a hour away but I am planning to start my trips there in May/June of this year. Hoping to make the connection baback across the Pond and to find out there they originated from in England. I have traced most of the Brummel's that were here in Carroll County, Md. Thanks for shakin the old Brummel tree, Susan Bundy On Fri, Feb 24, 2012 at 6:08 AM, Diane <dpkms20042000@yahoo.co.uk> wrote: > Hi there, Diane list admin here. > > Is there anyone on this list that need any help with research from anybody? > > There hasn't been much going on with this list for a while! > > Hoping to hear from you soon. > > Diane list admin > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > BRUMMEL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

Hello all, This is Susan Bundy, Brummel list volunteer, Just running a email list check, been having problems with emails bouncing. Thanks, SueB
BR*Ms, Notice that for the Green/e DNA project: http://freepages.genealogy.RootsWeb.Com/~jwg3/greendna.htm I put the lineage & results of each testee on the web. I assume that will be ok with you all? I think showing the results is important to encourage others to participate. I am willing to wait to post the lineages of each testee until their results are in. That way no one can say that the results are made up by FT DNA because FT DNA knew who should match in advance. I have added you to the list of those who have filled out the form to order a kit. It is in section 5a of the Broome DNA web page. Only me & one other have filled out the form so far. But, one has not joined until he orders a kit. You may also want to order the free video. The link to order it is in section 5b of the Broome DNA page. -- James W. BRO*M*s & BRUM*s, I have not emailed the BRUM*s before so let me introduce the DNA project to them in the next paragraph. I assume Broom & Brum are sometimes pronounced the same since there are both BROOMFIELDs & BRUMFIELDs and there are BROOMs, BROMEs, & BRUMMs. I also assume surnames have been shortened to Broom/e & in some cases lengthened from Broom/e, since the taking of surnames in the 1200s. Since some of us with widely varying surnames may descend from the same 1st man to take the surname, those who descend from the same 1st man will have identical Y-chromosomes & thus we need a DNA surname project that includes all the variants, so we can put DNA matches side by side regardless of the spelling. It is to everyone's advantage financially to be in a DNA project since the 25 marker test costs $229 outside of a project & inside of a project it costs $169 -- a savings of $60! We can split off surnames into their own DNA project later. BRO*M*s & BRUM*s, The "Broom" DNA project is ready for people to join. Joining means buying a kit with analysis from Family Tree DNA. If you prefer to buy a kit & analysis from another company, please let me know the test results so we can tell to which BRO*M*/BRUM*s you are kin & aren't. You will probably need to buy the kit & analysis from one company. One company does not process using another's kit. The kits are generally free with analysis. I think FT DNA is the cheapest for 25 markers at $169 + $2 postage. We are finding out that Europeans are so much alike that the 25 marker test is necessary to make sure we have a match, so please order the 25 marker test, unless you just can't afford $171. Be sure who ever is to be tested is willing & will follow the instructions carefully. To see the instructions, go to the BRO*M*/BRUM* DNA web page at: http://freepages.genealogy.RootsWeb.Com/~jwg3/bromdna.htm (if down, the web site is duplicated at: http://members.FortuneCity.Com/jgreen/bromdna.htm) and scroll down to section 4b & click on "Instructions For testing". To join, go to the above web page & scroll down to 4c & click on "Fill out form to join the Bro/u*m* Surname DNA Project". I bought a kit with analysis for one of my Broom first cousin today since that is as close as I can come to getting the Y-chromosome of my maternal grandfather (W.F. Broom Sr. 1864-1939). My 1st cousin & grandpa should be a perfect match. When one of my 4th cousins in MS is tested & I get a perfect match between my 1st & one of my MS 4th cousins, then we descendants of my gt. gt. gt. grandpa Wm. Broom (1753-1826) will know the values of his (Wm. Broom's) 25 markers & all the Broom men in the 2 lines of the 2 testees. I also look forward to knowing if the Brooms who settled in 1768 (a mile away from my gt. gt. gt. gt. grandpa Broom) are kin. From what my grandfather said they would be my 6th cousins. I notice that Bennett Greenspan has named our project, Broom. Sorry. I meant it to be named Bro*m*/Brum*. I guess Broom is simplier. I hope that will be ok with you all. Searching for Bro* & Bru* at FT DNA that had paid for Y chromosome DNA analysis, I find: Broom 1 Broomall 1 Broomhall 1 Brummel 1 The one Broom (above) is surely the one I ordered today, because it was not there yesterday when I checked. I hope the Broomall, Broomhall, & Brummel join our project. All they have to do is email the president (Bennett Greenspan). Email me if you are one of those testees. I will try to get through with answering questions within the next week & unsub from all but my BroomF list. I don't want to bore or infringe on these other lists. If you do not think your surname is related to Broom/e, let me know. We can spin off your surname as its own DNA project with you as its administrator. Hello everyone, Another warning of a possible genealogy Scam GenealogyGiants.com @ yahoo.com and @ hotmail.com They are giving the same sell job as GenSeekers@yahoo.com and @hotmail.com If you go to their link, the homepage does not come up completely and I just want to give a warning to everyone with the old saying "BUYER BEWARE!!!" Hello everyone on this list. I am Susan Bundy the List Administrator and I am passing along a warning on a Genealogy Scam that was email to me from the Maryland Genealogy Coordinator of Rootsweb.com The old genealogy scam is back www.genseekers.com also known as Family Discovery.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. GUESS WHAT? The cancellation email bounces. You can not contact anyone. If you mail them the request to cancel, it comes back as no such address! Does this surprise you? If you read through the offer, there is no daytime telephone to call to ask questions, no technical support...that is why it is a big SCAM! One person who recently fell for the come on had his/her account dinged not once, but twice! Please pass this on to everyone that you know to help stop this scam. Whenever you get contacted by a offer, be sure there are means of contacts such as; telephone numbers, address to business, email address to company support. And test them before ordering. I always call my orders in, like to Heritage Quest or Genealogy.com and get a order number and name of the person helping me. Be careful out there while you are enjoying and exploring your family research. Permission is granted to pass this on.

I was looking for information on a Florentine Marie Brommelmeier and found that she married Fred William Otto. Anyway in the 1850 census for St Charles county, Missouri, there is a Fred W. Otto: age 22 and family but living in the same house is a Mariah C Brummel: age 47, Mary Brummel: age 15: and George Brummel age 8. I am thinking that since a Fred Willam Otto Married a Florentine Marie Brommelmeier that Mariah is the mother of Flo? and perhaps it instead of Brommel It should have been Brommelmeier? But there is listing in the LDS sight that does have a marrage of George BRUMMEL Marriage(s): Spouse: Nancy CHECK Marriage: 19 Sep 1869 St Charles, Missouri Seems your one of the peaple to ask. Thanks
