My great-grandfather was Charles William Brumbaugh b. 08-29-1890 Elgin, IL, d. 01-07-1976, Indiana. He married Margaret Catherine Bower 11-25-1911. She was born 01-25-1890/91? and died 02-25-1929? They had 4 children together who are all still living. Chas. Wm.'s father was George William Brumbaugh b. 1865 possibly PA d. 19?? The story goes that he ran away to Illinois where he met and married Julia Ann Mintzer b. 1864 d. 1944. He owned a restaurant in Elgin, IL. At least one child, Chas. Wm. (see above) was born in IL. They also had at least 3 other children, Harry, Pearl, and Maude. According to my grandfather, upon moving to Indiana, in addition to his farming, at one time or another, he also owned a tankage plant in Kendallville, IN, a livery stable in Churubusco, IN, and was the town cop in Churubusco for a time. All I know of George William parentage is that his mother was an Eby, and he had at least one brother, Jacob. Could these be the same George and ! Jacob Brumbaugh you spoke of in your post?
