Hubert C. Brumbaugh Hubert C. Brumbaugh, age 89, passed away Friday, February 29, 2008 at Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. He was a resident in Assisted Living at the Canton Regency. Born in North Canton, Ohio on May 7, 1918, he was the son of the late Grace (Grubb) and Cloyd Brumbaugh. Hubert graduated from Hartville High School in 1936 and from Wittenberg University in 1940 with a degree in business. Upon graduation, he worked in the personal tax department of the Stark County Auditor until he was called into the US Army in late 1942. He married Mildred Heiser on February 6, 1943, and was married for 31 years until Mildred lost her battle with breast cancer. Hubert was a veteran of World War II and received three Bronze Stars. After his military service, he worked for the Stark County Treasurer in the Court House in Canton, Ohio. He was co-owner of the Hartville Elevator Company from 1950 until her retired in 1980. Hubert's hobbies included woodworking and traveling. He visited all 50 states and over 30 countries. He was a life-long member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church in North Canton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Brumbaugh, in 1974. He is survived by his second wife, Ruth (Lindenberger) Brumbaugh; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana(Craig) Wellspring of Massillon, Ohio, Debbie (Jim) Rutledge of Canton, Darla (Joel) Parkinson of Alliance; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis (Brenda) Brumbaugh of North Canton, Dean (Jean) Brumbaugh of Parker, Texas, ten grandchildren, David Wellspring of Seattle, WA, Tricia Wellspring; Jennifer Rutledge of Austin, TX, Elizabeth and Rachel Rutledge; Becky, Robert and Michael Parkinson; Dakota and Courtney Brumbaugh. Funeral services will be Sunday March 9th at 3:00 p.m. in St. Jacob Lutheran Church 1460 State St. NE, North Canton with Pastor Phil Kunder officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday March 8th 5-7:00 p.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville and one hour prior to the service on Sunday (2-3:00 p.m.) in the church. Burial will be in St. Jacob's Cemetery on Monday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
