I had the name researched and according to the research, the Brumbles name is of Norman origin after the English were overtaken by the Norman race in 1066. It changed through the years in the U.S.A. by people taking the census information. The name has been written as Brumble since about 1066 in Lincolnshire England, where they were anciently seated as Lords of the Manor. We went from there to Scotland, Ireland and other european countries. I can't say for sure if the name also encompases Brumbaugh or not. The census takers from 1750 spelled it as they thought it sounded. I have record of a Brumble as far back as 1650 living in Maryland.
