I'm hoping that some of you out there might be descendants of either the Conrad Brumbaugh listed in the subject line, husband of Rebecca Schlott, who resided in Stark County, Ohio or a descendant of one of the children of Conrad Brumbaugh, b.c. 1769 - 1859, who also resided in Stark County, Ohio and might have a family Bible or some other family memorabilia you'd be willing to share. I'm trying to determine the parentage of the younger Conrad and have been unable to find any "smoking guns." Before I begin an in depth analysis and expand the search, I thought it might be a good idea to see if anyone has some proof of who Conrad's parents were. With all due respect to G. B. Brumbaugh, the younger Conrad's parents were NOT Jacob and Sarah (Ditch) Brumbaugh. Conrad was born 4 years before their marriage and a male of his age is not present in Jacob's household in either the 1830 or 1840 census. Unfortunately, young Conrad married in 1849 and was in his own household in the 1850 census. The clincher, however, is that Jacob's estate papers name all his living children and Conrad is not among them although he survived Jacob by 18 years. My best guess at this point is that Conrad was not Jacob's oldest son but his youngest brother. That, however, is just a guess. He could have also been the son of one of the other brothers or, less likely, a son of a Brumbaugh located in Pennsylvania or Montgomery County, Ohio. Any help much appreciated and thanks in advance!
