Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IRG.2ACIB/15.20.117.119 Message Board Post: The name Brumbles is my family name and according to my Father, the "s" was added to the name around 1900 because of a riff in the family. I had the name researched and according to the research, the Brumbles name is of Norman origin after the English were overtaken by the Norman race in 1066. It changed through the years in the U.S.A. by people taking the census information. The name has been written as Brumble since about 1066 in Lincolnshire England, where they were anciently seated as Lords of the Manor. We went from there to Scotland, Ireland and other european countries. I can't say for sure if the name also encompases Brumbaugh or not. The census takers from 1750 spelled it as they thought it sounded. I have record of a Brumble as far back as 1650 living in Maryland.

Archie and Esther had 15 children, so we know there are plenty of family members around! The reunion will be held on the weekend of July 29-31, 2005, in Beatrice, Gage County, NE. At this time, we have reserved a facility that will hold 300 folks in air-conditioned comfort, and plan to have a booklet of family history that can be taken home, a catered banquet with a program, activities for children and teens and provisions made for side trips to sites related to family history. Please contact Cinda Hoffman at thegenseeker@comcast.net or Paul Brumbaugh at pbrmbgh@hotmail.com for further information. Any and all family members and friends are welcome, and we encourage you to contact those descendants we might not know. Best Regards, Cinda H! offman, CO
I am also descended from Johann Heinrich and Johann Jacob BRUMBACH. I have a reprint of the book "Genealogy of the Brumbach Families," Gaius Marcus Brumbaugh, 1913. Can I help anyone with infor- mation from this book? The exact origin and parents of the two above immigrants is not given in the above book. Nor have I ever seen any other proof of this information. In the book, they are described as coming from Southern Germany and by a 1891 testimony of a descendant, Eve (Brumbaugh) Snoeberger, b 1806, were cousins. Does anyone have more information about their origin? Dee
