    1. Sources of Brumbaugh Info
    2. The Bob
    3. Hi folks, It's great to see the recent interest and participation in this list. As the list daddy I usually just see message board stuff automatically relayed that's not of much interest. The recent postings have helped me get some of the mess in my database straightened out. Diane Alford's site is great! Some other places that might help are: Jesse & Patricia Davis' site at http://www.geocities.com/jespat44/ Kriss Replogle's site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kreplogle/ Bob Manning bob@manning.org hrm3@knology.net

    3. Many of you may already be aware, but in case not the website devoted to the Stark Co, OH Conrad Brumbaugh, below, is here: http://www.geocities.com/conradbrumbaugh/history.html Mike > Another Conrad BRUMBAUGH was a nephew of the Conrad who > born in 1735. He is the Conrad b 1768 in Frederick Co., MD and > d 1859 in Stark Co., OH m (1) Mary Elizabeth MILLER and (2) > Catharine MARKLEY.

    1. Conrad BRUMBAUGH (s)

    3. Another note on Conrad BRUMBAUGH... A quote from "Genealogy of the Brumbach Families," 1913: Reference to the records of (E3) Conrad shows that considerable uncer- tainty exists amongst the descendants as to the time when the family located "near Johnstown, Cambria Co., Pa.," hence the importance of the land records, and of the John Horner ledger records hereafter mentioned--see "Revelations of an Old Ledger." Johnstown, Pa., was called "Conemaugh" until about 1834." (Page 638) Maybe using the name Conemaugh will lead you to Brethren Churches, schools, will, probate courst, etc. in learning when and where the "first" Conrad BRUMBAUGH died. Dee

    1. Conrad BRUMBAUGH-born 1735
    2. Dee Howard
    3. Annette and other BRUMBAUGH researchers, I went through "Genealogy of the Brumbach Families," 1913 and found some confusion about two Conrad BRUMBAUGHS. Conrad BRUMBAUGH b 1735 d 1791 was probably Johnannes Heinrich BRUMBAUGH's second son born in Germany. Every where I found in- formation about his death the location was given as Cambria Co., PA., within 3 miles of Johnstown, Cambria Co., PA., near Johnstown, PA., etc. He seems to have moved from Washington Co., MD to Bedford Co., PA, and late in life, to the Cambria Co., PA area. He is described as a minister/preacher in the Church of the Brethren, but I could not find him listed in the Brethren Church listings of ministers. I used the book, "A History of the Church of the Brethren in the Middle District of Pennsylvania." (I found many other BRUMBAUGH preachers there.) Brethren Cemetaries near or in Johnstown, PA. might be a source for research. The Brumbach Genealogy quotes a statement that he was a school teacher near Johnstown, PA., but the time listed for proof of this is later than his supposed death in 1791. Every source I have states that he arrive in America in 1765 and that he served in the Rev. War with DAR documentation available. There is a Brumbaugh Cemetary near Fredericksburg, Blair Co., PA. and a Brumbaugh Cemetary in Newberry Twp., Miami Co., OH. Another Conrad BRUMBAUGH was a nephew of the Conrad who born in 1735. He is the Conrad b 1768 in Frederick Co., MD and d 1859 in Stark Co., OH m (1) Mary Elizabeth MILLER and (2) Catharine MARKLEY. Also, I have a mention of the marriage of Conrad b 1735 and Anna Christina HISER as 25 May 1767. This is information unproven by me and found in the work of another family history researcher. Like you, I do not have any proof for Conrad's death date as 1791. Wills in Cambria Co., PA. may be a useful source for death infor- mation. Hope this serves to bring others into this discussion of our BRUMBAUGH ancestors. Dee

Lottie was married to Joseph Clapper Frederick (although some sites have his name reversed as Joseph Frederick Clapper) and their daughter, Verna Elizabeth Frederick, was my grandmother. I grew up in my grandmother's home and she used to talk about both sides of her family all the time. I have some things on Uncle John H. Brumbaugh you may be interested in. He was 15 years old and living in Washington, DC in 1922. He was a survivor of the Knickerbocker Theater Disaster, Washington, DC, January 28, 1922. His name appears in local newspapers, the Memorial Booklet and a 1957 Washington Post newspaper article entitled "35 Years After The Disaster." He attended the theater that night by himself, sat in the balcony, and was rescued after 2 hours. I am writing a book about the Knickerbocker Theater Disaster, and would like to find out as much as possible about the victims and survivors. If anyone knows of Elliott F. Brumbaugh, and his family, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Many thanks.
