Bruhn who came to the US in 1868 on the ship Hammonia out of Hamburg. However in regard to old German manuscripts, may I recommend the Rare Books library of your nearest state university. If that doesn't work, contact the Lilly Library at Indiana University. I am fairly sure they can advise you both as to reading and preserving these wonderful records.
