The location of the tombstone to which you refer is in Hills of Shaenfield subdivision, WEST (not east) of FM1604. The original developer's plans included a small park at the location of the gravesite, but since it has been taken over by another developer, I don't know what will happen. What is sad is that direct descendents of Christina Weyel Bruhn who sold the property to the developer have no interest in preserving their heritage. I have discovered another descendent through an obituary in the San Antonio Express-News. There does not seem to be any interest on their part to preserve the site either. I am too old to concern myself with the issue anymore and have shut down the email address listed in the article because the only messages it got were spam. I reside between the gravesite and FM1604. You can find me in the phone book if you want make contact.

She was married to Henry Bruhn born 1830. No info as to when he died or where he is buried. An article was in the San Antonio local paper about this cemetery. I have a copy of it. The family is happy that the cemetery is still there and the developer did not build over it or move the graves. I have not been to the site to see just how close the developer has built to the small cemetery. One of Christina and Henry's daughter's, Rebecca, married Gustav Heinrich Wehmeyer. Gustav is the brother of my great grandfather, Hermann Wehmeyer. Another of Christina and henry's daughter, Mary (or Marie) married August Albert richard Wehmeyer, another brother to my great grandfather. I can send you the newspaper article if you wish.

It is a new housing area that it is still under construction. She told me that two blocks from her house there is a tumbstone. I could not believed this! I tought that she was joking so we went and to my surprised the tumbstone was standing between two brand new houses that are still under construction!! the tumstone belongs to christina brauhn b.1835 d.1905. I feel very sad because who ever is the developer did not make an effort to at least build the houses far away from this site. I wish someone could tell me more information about this lady.

Bruhn who came to the US in 1868 on the ship Hammonia out of Hamburg. However in regard to old German manuscripts, may I recommend the Rare Books library of your nearest state university. If that doesn't work, contact the Lilly Library at Indiana University. I am fairly sure they can advise you both as to reading and preserving these wonderful records. I'm just getting started filling in blanks because I now have a grandson and my daughters are ancestor curious. My father, Rolf Bruhn Hansen, is still alive at almost 84 and loves to reminisce. I'm trying to get as much info from him as possible while I can. I would love to be in contact with as many cousins as possible. There's no problem with contacting first cousins and their children, but second and third cousins would be more difficult and really interesting. Because we still live in Seattle, I often wonder how many relatives we might be living among, all unaware of our relationships. I already have Aunti Vitty's geneaology that she put together with the help of my aunt Helen Mae Myrick who is also still alive. It is so incomplete for my generation and nothing much at all for the ones afterward. We can do this much for our own descendants to put the recent generations onto the tree.
