I would appreciate some further details from your research. Please email me directly at roweeee@hotmail.com as I'm not too sure how to email you from this bulletin board. My aunt is planning to visit Holstein in a few weeks time and I would particularly appreciate any details you have about where they lived. Our Bruhns were long lived so I have photos and information about the older generation. I am only in my 30s so am a fair way down the line. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Rowena

My grandfather, John Bruhn, then a teenager, emigrated in 1888 from Schlesvig-Holstein with his younger brother Jacob. They settled in Nebraska. His parents came later; older siblings preceded him. The family hailed from Westerhever, a village which lies on the far Western part of the country. The surrounding countryside to the East had many small villages and many Bruhns, many of whom were doubtless related. I would happy to supply other information if I have it. Arnold Bruhn
