I have the CW pension records of Joseph alias Joseph Pierce BRUCE, b ca 1850, d 26 Dec 1900, West Nashville TN. He served w/ Co. B, 3rd TN Cav. (Union). He married Margaret DAVIS 6 Mar 1877 in Poplar Bluff MO. If this is your ancestor, I will be happy to send you a copy of these pension records. They hold some interesting anecdotal information. Unfortunately for me, this is not my ancestor, though he may be related. My gg grandfather was Joseph BRUCE, b 1824. He married Elendar Jane CHAMBERS (family records show Mary Jane CHAMBERS) in 1860. I found a Joseph P. BRUCE on the 1850 Davidson CO TN census living with a CHAMBERS family, however Jane was not there. I have 4 different birth places from various sources for my Joseph BRUCE: Scotland, Virginia, Alabama and Mississippi. I've had no luck at finding him. He was said to have been a scout working St. Louis to New Orleans, which sounds like a possible Civil War connection. The only other CW Joseph Bruce I can find was with Co. A, 3rd Inf. Bn at Memphis (CSA) and there were no service records. If anyone can help me out with my Joseph BRUCE, I would really be grateful, and would be happy to share information.
