I am searching for the following Bruce family and will really appreciate it if someone can shed light on them. We have a few family sources but they sometimes conflict. Francis Marion Bruce b. 4/15/1850 somewhere in TX d. 10/21/1918 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Married Amanda Jane Harris (don't know where or when). Also do not know Amanda's parents. However, she died (probably in Washington Co., AR) between 1899-1905 Francis Marion's parents were Peter Bruce and Sarah Carlock who were married in Madison Co., IL on June 21, 1838. I do not know the names of any siblings of Francis Marion. I know nothing about Peter Bruce's parents but Sarah Carlock's parents may have been John Carlock b. 1775 and Elizabeth b. 1778. Locations unk. The children of Francis Marion and Amanda were: Rosyetta, Thomas Ruel, Benjamin Franklin, Lula, Viva and an infant who died shortly after birth. By 1909, Francis Marion and several of his children were living in Shawnee, OK. He may have remarried to a woman named Maude. Family lore says that Francis Marion participated in the Oklahoma land rush but all 72 tracts books have been checked by the Southwest OK Gen Soc and nothing found.
