Hi, I checked out the Bruce family genealogy at the Society of Genealogists in London and checked the findings from there against the ' official tomes' in the Mitchell library in Glasgow. There is a family tree in London for several generations before 1066 showing Gaelic-Viking descent but the 'official tomes' in Glasgow tend to discount this. All of the sources agree on the generations from 1066. Generation 01 Robert de Brus landed with William the Conqueror in 1066. Generation 02 Robert de Brus, Lord of Skelton in Yorkshire Generation 03 a) Adam de Brus, Lord of Skelton b) Robert de Brus married the heiress of the Lord of Annandale from South West Scotland Generation 04 Robert de Bruce, Lord of Annandale married Isobel, dau.of William the Lion, King of Scotland Generation 05 William Bruce, Lord of Annandale Generation 06 Robert Bruce, Lord Annandale, married dau. of Earl of Huntingdon, grandson of King of Scotland. Generation 07 Robert Bruce, Lord Annandale was a competitor for the Scottish throne when Alexander III was killed. He married Isobel de Clare, dau. of Gilbert Earl of Gloucester. Generation 08 a) Robert Bruce, Lord Annandale married The Countess of Carrick and their son Robert became Earl of Carrick, and King of Scotland b) Barnard Bruce - nothing known c) Sir John Bruce, who became the kings uncle. Generation 09 Robert Bruce, King of Scotland. -----Original Message----- From: Bruce Bedford <bedfordp@winshop.com.au> >Hi All, > This is a bit trivia for all the Bruce's that think that they >are related to the Scottish Kings,
