I wonder if your Phoebe Kuykendal Bruce came from Sumner Co., TN. There was a Kuykendal family there in the early years -- 1800 give or take a few -- that had some pretty mean men in it. I don't recall the source, but I remember reading that two of them were literally run out of town and told never to return. The story stuck with me because Priscilla Bloodworth sued a Kuykendal man for getting her with child, and I am a Bloodworth descendant. I'm also a Bruce descendant, and during that same time period there were several Bruce brothers and their families in Sumner Co. Joyce
