He was born at sea coming from Scotland around 1797-1800. I have his age by census records. He married Hannah MEASE/MIES in (Huntingdon county?) Pennslyvania. She was the daughter of Johann George Miess and Christina KERN(s). The Mies' died in Centre county, PA . William and Hannah recieved land in Huntingdon co. from them. They moved on to JoDavies co, Illinois late in the 1850's with most or all of their children. Christina, George, William, Sarah, Amelia, Wells John, Harriet, Laticia, James, Hannah, Jacob and Catherine. George Bruce married Harriet MAPLES, daughter of Daniel Maples and Paulina MILLETT of New York. They were married in JoDaviess county, Illinois and moved to Benton county, Iowa about 1870 and lived out their lives in the Vinton area. Any help in finding common descendents or parents of William is appreciated. Thanks, Sheri
