I'm looking for the parents of John BRUCE, b. 30 Apr 1748, Augusta, Pittsylvania Co. VA; married about 28 June, 1775 [bond] Charlotte Co. VA to Elizabeth CLAY. John died 13 April 1827, Garrard Co. KY and Elizabeth died 24 Feb 1832, Garrard Co. KY. Their daughter, Sophia BRUCE married James Palmer, believe abt. 1808 in Garrard Co. KY. John is supposedly a son of one of the Refugee Highlander soldiers who escaped after the battle of Culloden Moor in 1745 and took passage for America. Have no proof of this.
