He was born on 11/7/1690 in Portsoy, in the Fordyce Parish in Scotland. and Died in Brucetown in Fredrick Co VA. on 9/23/1748. I am descended from his first born Mary born on 6/3/1715 in Aderdeen Scotland. and died in 1771 in Wincester Frederick co VA. She married William Albin in 1738 in Orange co VA. Dan

Hi -- I too descend from this John Bruce. His ggg granddaughter Achsah Bruce (John - James (b. Leochel Cushnie 1720) m. Margaret McMahon - William m. Polly Lucas - William m. Sarah Polke - William D. m. Betsy Polke) married my gg grandfather James Parker. I hadn't before seen a definitive statement that Sarah's maiden name was Parrel, only speculation because of the reference to "my kinsman JB" in Hugh Parrel's will. I've been to Leochel Cushnie -- a tiny hamlet, very remote and rural part of Aberdeenshire -- 30+ miles west of Aberdeen.
