Since there seem to be many different branches to the Bruce tree it is hard to pick a place to start and not have to go into excessive detail.... so I'll flip a coin :O) and start with the first Generation American Emigrants and work from there.. 1) James Bruce; b.1720 Scotland - d. 1795 Nelson Cnty. KY Married 1744 to: Margaret McMahon b.1727- d. Nelson Cnty. KY. **According to the Memoirs of James Bruce's Grandson, William Bruce, he [James] came from Scotland about the year 1740 along with his brother George*** 2) William Bruce b.1745 Maryland- d. 1818 Nelson Cnty. KY Married 1st- 1771 to: Maria "Polly" Lucas Perciful b. 1745 PA.- d.1805 Nelson Cnty. KY **Maria Lucas was 1st married to a Richard Perciful from which I have no record of children. After Maria's death in 1805 I have William marrying 2nd one Sally Harris abt 1807 in Nelson Cnty. KY** 3) William Bruce Jr. b. 1776 PA.- d. 1853 Bruceville, Indiana Married 1st 1798 to: Sally Polk b. 1780 KY- d. 1818 Bruceville, Indiana ***This first union produced 15 children of which I (Chadd Rose) am descended from the oldest child Charles P. Bruce*** After Sally's death in 1818, William Bruce then married Helen Holmes abt. 1819 in Bruceville and they had 10 children from their union*** 4) Charles Polk Bruce b. 1799 Indiana- d. 1850 Indiana Married 1st- 1823 to: Angelina Wright b. 1806- d. 1834 ****This first union produced 4 children of which I am descended through Samuel Milton. After Angelina's death, Charles P. then married Nancy P. Harrison and they had 11 children. 5) Capt. Samuel Milton Bruce b.1828- d. 1897 married 1862 to: Sarah Elizabeth Layman b. 1840- d. 1926 6) Minnehaha Angeline Bruce b. 1864- d. 1961 married 1889 to: James Letmond Mullin b.?- d. very young in 1893 as a result of an accident. 7) Arah Elizabeth Mullin b. 1892- d. 1973 Married ? to: Earl Rose b. 1890- d. 1917 8) Letmond Lavine Rose b.1912- d. 1980 Married 1933 to: Fern Lucille Lena Tomhave b. 1914-d.1996 ***Generation number 8 is my Grandparents.
