Can anyone tell me anything about Margaret C. Bruce b about 1835, sister of Sarah Caradine Barrett b 1832. All I know now is that she probably married a Bruce in Neshoba Co. She may have been the Margaret Bruce living with the John L. Harris family in Newton Co. in 1870. In 1900 she was living with her sister in the home of Ruffin Barrett in Simpson Co. According to a family story she shot her husband in an argument about his desire to fight in the civil war..don't know if this was the Bruce or a previous husband. Sarah and Margaret were part Indian. There is at least a possibilty that Margaret was the Margaret married to Benjamin Bird Barrett, also of Neshoba Co. Bird was the brother of Sarah's husband, Reuben W. Barrett. Bird and Margaret split up for some reason about the time of the Civil War, Bird remarried and went to Texas.
