James Bruce was an early settler of Frederica, St. Simons Island Georgia. His date and place of birth are unknown though he would have been born before 1745. His date of death is also unknown but it was prior to 1789. The names of his parents are unknown as well as the name of his wife. I only know of two children: Elizabeth Bruce who married James Moore of Glynn County and Rebecca Bruce who married Samuel Wright. There was a Thomas Bruce, Mariner in Savannah at that time, but it is unknown if they were related. There was also a Thomas Bruce and a Daniel Bruce in Liberty County during this time but again, no connection has been found.
