    1. Re: Stephen and Matilda BRUCE
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XOG.2ACIB/1235.1.1 Message Board Post: My search for information regarding Stephen and Matilda Bruce has not been very fruitful, in fact it's been frustrating. I can't seem to find any record of them after 1850 census info, and have no idea who either of their parents or siblings were. The reason I know her maiden name was Paris was because it was listed on their daughter Catherine's death certificate, which was filled in by her husband so I'm assuming that's correct (he should know, shouldn't he?) Do you know anything about their children? By the way, Catherine and Peter named one of their sons James Wesley. I know from Newspaper abstracts that Stephen Bruce was still in Monroe County in at least 1863, because the paper lists Simon Bruce as sending (his father) Stephen Bruce $20 from wherever he was serving as a Civil War soldier. I also know that Catherine had a brother Thomas; their families lived next to each other for a couple of censuses. The 1850 census lists these three children (Catherine, Simon, and Thomas,) and--John! So now I know a little more about him. I would desperately like to find out about Stephen and Matilda's parents, though. I've seen some Bruce's and Paris's, but can't seem to connect them, especially since the pre-1850 censuses don't list family members, just heads-of-households. I will write your contact information on my Bruce folder and if I come across anything about them, I'll pass it on! Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Jenny
