Children Robert b 1830, Alexander C b 1835, Jas. Henry b 1837, John A., a baby in 1846, two daughters, Betty d Nashville Nov 28,1898 and Mary Virginia. Robert (the son) moved to St Louis, MO, then to Jacksonville, IL and became one of the large contractors and builders in that section of the country. Alexander became one of the most skilful and practical English architects of Nashville and moved to Knoxville TN. Moved to Atlanta GA ca 1883 and established himself as a leading architect there, designing and erecting many of the city's skyscrapers. Jas. Henry lived in Nashville and was engaged in the business of printing and publishing, building up one of the largest publishing businesses in the south under the firm name of Marshall & Bruce. John A, enlisted in 1861 in the Civil War in the First Tennessee regiment. He was wounded and taken prisoner, later exchanged and rejoined his regiment. Was killed in April 1863.
