They settled in Cherokee County, GA.. Do you have info about James Bruce in the Revolutionary War? I have only seen the "R.S." reference in the Georgia Lottery Books. Also the Bruces were listed in the 1830 & 1840 Habersham County Census (and 1827 Land Lottery) as residing in several Militia Districts-- "Capt. Allens (now #666 Cool Springs), Capt. Hughes, Capt. Stephens & Capt. Suttons." I am trying to determine the current Militia Distict Number or Name for these "old Militia Districts" Any comments?
