His fathers name was J Allen Bruce and mothers name was Diza. He moved with his mother to Texas in 1872 after the death of his father. In the Texas 1880 census Diza shows up as head of the household and her son Joseph resides at the same residence. His Father J Allen Bruce has North Carolina as his listed birthplace sometime around 1800 to 1820 I assume. I cannot find anymore info about him.
