    3. Objet : looking for a Coppock/Ceapach marraige on the Bruce line Hello I'm trying to follow out a lead in a book by Alvin Anderson, where he says that the Coppock line had married into the Bruce royal line... although I have always thought the Coppocks were descended from a sept of the McDonells of Keppoch, bearing the surname Ceapach (Gaelic form of Coppock, both mean "field" I remembered finding the surname once as a sept of Donald... however, I have never seen it in an official septs list... for either clan... The first Coppock in England, is a Thomas Coppock, in Yorkshire, represented on a document dated 1379, probably a will, according to Anderson, which would make his birth date around 1300... I think if he were married to a daughter of the Bruce, that would be known, so it would probably be a bit in amont, or a cousin line, or perhaps a female marrying into the line, either case it would perhaps show up somewhere on the line of the Earl of Mar...but I haven't seen any lines unaccounted for there... nor on the Burgh or Bruce lines.... The other marraige I'm looking for, similarly legendary in the family, is through the MacArthur line; There is supposed to be a MacArthur Bruce marraige at about the same period, but I have had little luck finding it so far... If anybody has any knowledge of the MacArthur, Ceapach or Coppock surnames as a sept of Donald, & of course, if you have any idea about the marraige in question (a known line with an unknown surname, even) I would very much like to discuss it with you.
