Hi list, I received this correspondence from another Bruce Descendant and was wondering if anyone could help me place them. There isn't much to go on but mabey one of you will recognize the names. According to this individual she is descendant from a William Bruce(1776-1853) son of William Bruce and Polly Lucas/Percifull, that married Sally Polk(1780-1818). William and Sally had 15 children. He then re-married to a Helen(Hetty) Richey(Rickey) Holmes and they had 10 more children. Well, here is my dilema. According to Wiliam Bruce's Memoirs he only had two sons with the name of William. The first William and his wife are listed in the Memoirs, the second William was only 15 at the time of the Memoirs so it could be possible for her to be on the right track. I don't have the information to back it up though. I have their first William as marrying Elizabeth Polk(e) and of course no other data on the younger William who was born in 1836 just 4 days before his older half-brother William died. As you read her letter you will see that she lists a William Bruce that married an Ann. If this is accurate then it must be the younger William. She stated that William and Sally were her 4th GGrandparents and they are my 5th, which would make sense because I descend from their oldest son Charles Polk Bruce, born in 1802. The only discrepancy is that if indeed it is the younger William of whom she descends then her 4th GGrandparents would actually be William Bruce and Helen Holmes. I sent her a copy of the memoirs to mull over and am waiting to hear back from her and thought that in the meantime mabey some of you our there could lend me a helping hand to get her placed on the proper branch. My father is George William Everett born in El Reno Oklahoma to Arch Curtis Everett and Grace May Bruce who was the daughter of Will Bruce and Nannie Susan Davis. His parents were George Bruce and Sarah Ann Ogle Then I have his father as William Bruce and mother Ann then William Bruce and Sally Polk. I am hoping to find a link. My father tells me there is choctaw Indian on the Bruce side of the family. He believes It was Will Bruce wife Nannie Susan Davis. Im not sure where it comes from or if it is even true.My information ends with John Bruce who was the father of James Bruce that was married to Margaret McMahon. There are so many Will Bruce's It is hard to find my correct line. James Bruce also had a son Will he was married to Polly Lucas. Are these names familar to you? BRUCE and Anna STOUT son of Garland BRUCE and Mary Magdalina HELVEY son of William BRUCE and Nancy Anne BALLARD son of George BRUCE and Elizabeth QUINN George W.'s brother William Raper BRUCE was my great grandfather and Nancy DAVIS' sister Mary E. married my grandfather's brother James Andrew BRUCE.
