Hi all: I'm searching for info on Virginia Bruce (Frances Virginia Bruce), born in Hopkins county, KY in 1856. She married William H. Bridges in 1882 in Hopkins county. They had one son, James Samuel Bridges. Don't know what happened to William H. Bridges, but Virginia remarried a Willis Alley in 1889. What happened to Virginia? Thanks. Dawnene (a descendant of James Samuel Bridges)

It's been a while since I've posted. Below is a text version of my family Pedigree chart I've been working on. I'm stuck at finding data about Samuel Bruce. A distant relative indicated that he left his wife Amelia (maiden name Jenkins) and went to California. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for my Bruce ancestors who lived in the Yorkshire area. John Bruce (born 1755 Farnham) married Elizabeth. Their son Thomas (born 1778 Rothwell) married Mary. Thomas and Mary had several children... William Bruce 1821 Burton Leonard John Bruce 1817 Bately Maria Bruce 1814 Burton Leonard and my ancestor *Charles Bruce 1810 Burton Leonard. Charles married twice. His first wife was Jane and his second (my connection) was Elizabeth (born 1809 Boroughbridge) Charles and Elizabeth had 3 children..Charles, Maria and Elizabeth (born 1844). I am searching for possible connections through Thomas and Marys children. Is there anyone who may be descended from William, Maria or Johh? I have had no luck in finding out about my Bruce line. I am still searching to find whether we are Scottish or English. Need help please!!!!!!! Thank you Amanda
I am searching for the following Bruce family and will really appreciate it if someone can shed light on them. We have a few family sources but they sometimes conflict. Francis Marion Bruce b. 4/15/1850 somewhere in TX d. 10/21/1918 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Married Amanda Jane Harris (don't know where or when). Also do not know Amanda's parents. However, she died (probably in Washington Co., AR) between 1899-1905 Francis Marion's parents were Peter Bruce and Sarah Carlock who were married in Madison Co., IL on June 21, 1838. I do not know the names of any siblings of Francis Marion. I know nothing about Peter Bruce's parents but Sarah Carlock's parents may have been John Carlock b. 1775 and Elizabeth b. 1778. Locations unk. The children of Francis Marion and Amanda were: Rosyetta, Thomas Ruel, Benjamin Franklin, Lula, Viva and an infant who died shortly after birth. By 1909, Francis Marion and several of his children were living in Shawnee, OK. He may have remarried to a woman named Maude. Family lore says that Francis Marion participated in the Oklahoma land rush but all 72 tracts books have been checked by the Southwest OK Gen Soc and nothing found. If any of these people sound familiar to you, please contact me at: SharonN449@aol.com Thank you. Sharon

My great-grandfather's name was Solomon Bruce Welton Kitchen. However, when he married my great-grandmother, he dropped the last two names and married her as a BRUCE. So, their children, etc. became BRUCE's. There are various speculations as to why he changed the name, but it probably had something to do with the illegitimate son who showed up on my great-grandfather's doorstep one day and who looked just like my great-grandfather. Anyway, here is my BRUCE/KITCHEN line and I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who might be related: William KITCHEN, b. ?; died ? in Lycoming Co., PA?, married: Jermina MILLER Children of William and Jermina: Wyatt Chamberlin KITCHEN, b. 16 Apr. 1820, Williamsport, Lycoming Co., PA; died 20 Apr. 1893, Logan, Harrison Co., IA, married1: 4 Nov. 1840 Elizabeth Ann CLOGGETT married2: 16 July 1844 Elisabeth Eyster SLAGLE Children of Wyatt and 1st wife Elizabeth Cloggett: Solomon Bruce Welton KITCHEN, b. 9 Sep 1841, Petersburg, Hardy Co., VA; died 23 Mar. 1914, Clearwater Beach, Pinellas Co., FL; married: 4 Sep 1868 in Marshall Co., IA Nancy GARRETT (Married her as BRUCE) Solomon was in the Civil War in 1862 from Nebraska under his full name. He had an illegitimate son from Nebraska named Elias KITCHEN. This son came to visit his half-brothers and sisters in Waterloo, IA as late as the 1940s. Solomon and his wife, Nancy, were visiting their son in Clearwater Florida when Solomon died of an epileptic seizure. He supposedly was buried in Clearwater City Cemetery, but we can find no proof of this. After his death, Nancy tried to claim his pension and was forced to change her name to KITCHEN in order to collect the pension. It is not known if Nancy knew of Solomon's name change prior to his death.
