We recently found out from a message board on Genforum that a lady had posted on Thomas Bruce's middle name being Gilbert. She also had in the same message that Cordelia Amanda Morse's parents names were Charles Wesley Morse and Mary Luce Norton. I have written to her, but have had no response from her. Would enjoy hearing from her, so we could compare notes. The other info was from what my mother-in-law has told me of her grandparents Thomas Bruce and Cordelia Morse-Bruce's family. Any info that any one could help us with, would be greatly appreciated. > > Thank You, Lucille ALL@todays-tech.com > > > > >

Murray. At the time of his father's death, Columbus was reported to be in Windsor, Missouri, but I've never been able to track him from there. Would like to correspond with you concerning this Bruce family. Joyce
Looking for a connection to John Bailey Bruce born abt. 1870-75 who married Blanche M. Harper born abt. 1875. They had one son, Bailey Harper Bruce, who later joined "Pawnee Bills Wild West Show" under the name of "Just Plain Bill". John was a cattle buyer/transporter from the Pawnee Oklahoma area to St. Louis, Mo. and Chicago, Ill. John was alledged to have come from Tennessee. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Mail. http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/
Hi list, I received this correspondence from another Bruce Descendant and was wondering if anyone could help me place them. There isn't much to go on but mabey one of you will recognize the names. According to this individual she is descendant from a William Bruce(1776-1853) son of William Bruce and Polly Lucas/Percifull, that married Sally Polk(1780-1818). William and Sally had 15 children. He then re-married to a Helen(Hetty) Richey(Rickey) Holmes and they had 10 more children. Well, here is my dilema. According to Wiliam Bruce's Memoirs he only had two sons with the name of William. The first William and his wife are listed in the Memoirs, the second William was only 15 at the time of the Memoirs so it could be possible for her to be on the right track. I don't have the information to back it up though. I have their first William as marrying Elizabeth Polk(e) and of course no other data on the younger William who was born in 1836 just 4 days before his older half-brother William died. As you read her letter you will see that she lists a William Bruce that married an Ann. If this is accurate then it must be the younger William. She stated that William and Sally were her 4th GGrandparents and they are my 5th, which would make sense because I descend from their oldest son Charles Polk Bruce, born in 1802. The only discrepancy is that if indeed it is the younger William of whom she descends then her 4th GGrandparents would actually be William Bruce and Helen Holmes. I sent her a copy of the memoirs to mull over and am waiting to hear back from her and thought that in the meantime mabey some of you our there could lend me a helping hand to get her placed on the proper branch. I appreciate your help, Her message follows: Sincerley, Chadd Rose mailto: tuckman5@intrepid.net ------------------------------------------------------ Hi, Thanks for the reply. I do need information on these people. They are my 4th ggrandparents. My grand mother was a Bruce. This is the information I have. My father is George William Everett born in El Reno Oklahoma to Arch Curtis Everett and Grace May Bruce who was the daughter of Will Bruce and Nannie Susan Davis. His parents were George Bruce and Sarah Ann Ogle Then I have his father as William Bruce and mother Ann then William Bruce and Sally Polk. I am hoping to find a link. My father tells me there is choctaw Indian on the Bruce side of the family. He believes It was Will Bruce wife Nannie Susan Davis. Im not sure where it comes from or if it is even true.My information ends with John Bruce who was the father of James Bruce that was married to Margaret McMahon. There are so many Will Bruce's It is hard to find my correct line. James Bruce also had a son Will he was married to Polly Lucas. Are these names familar to you? Do you have more than This I dont have dates or family groups. Do you? Thanks so much for your help. Carol
Hello List, I am looking for information on my ancester James Addison Bruce. He was born in Tennessee about 1876, the son of C. C. Bruce. The family moved to Henry County Missouri and he was married to Mary A. Graham in 1895. They were later divorced. He was living in Windsor, MO in 1900. I have no record of him after that. Any help I can get on this person would be greatly appreciated as he was my grandfather. Wayne Stringer

Objet : looking for a Coppock/Ceapach marraige on the Bruce line Hello I'm trying to follow out a lead in a book by Alvin Anderson, where he says that the Coppock line had married into the Bruce royal line... although I have always thought the Coppocks were descended from a sept of the McDonells of Keppoch, bearing the surname Ceapach (Gaelic form of Coppock, both mean "field" I remembered finding the surname once as a sept of Donald... however, I have never seen it in an official septs list... for either clan... The first Coppock in England, is a Thomas Coppock, in Yorkshire, represented on a document dated 1379, probably a will, according to Anderson, which would make his birth date around 1300... I think if he were married to a daughter of the Bruce, that would be known, so it would probably be a bit in amont, or a cousin line, or perhaps a female marrying into the line, either case it would perhaps show up somewhere on the line of the Earl of Mar...but I haven't seen any lines unaccounted for there... nor on the Burgh or Bruce lines.... The other marraige I'm looking for, similarly legendary in the family, is through the MacArthur line; There is supposed to be a MacArthur Bruce marraige at about the same period, but I have had little luck finding it so far... If anybody has any knowledge of the MacArthur, Ceapach or Coppock surnames as a sept of Donald, & of course, if you have any idea about the marraige in question (a known line with an unknown surname, even) I would very much like to discuss it with you. Annie
The Kentucky Revolutionary Land Warrants http://www.sos.state.ky.us/intranet/revwscr.htm lists a George Bruce who received 200 acres of land for having served three years as a corporal in the VA Continental Line. (Warrant ID 2389.0. Does anyone know who this George Bruce was? Joyce
Does anyone know the Belgium reseacher, Mme R. Ponette-de Carniere who supposly did research concerning the Flemish origins of Robert de Brus? If so, please contact me. Thanks. Larry L.S. Bruce
I found a long lost family member, James Simmons Parker, in a Bruce family GED file. James lived in Hennepin Co., Minnesota. He was the brother of my great-grandfather Hiram N. Parker of Glenburn, Maine. If any of the Bruce family can relate any information on James it would be greatly appreciated. I have a badly faded picture of James and Hiram taken in 1861. Then James dissapears from the scene. Now I know he moved to Minnesota. Would like any information on this "lost" branch of our family tree. Also what is the Bruce family connection? Phil Dunton
At least 1000 BRUCE patents. You can view some of the original documents. None of the 13 original colonies are listed, but you might find a clue to an ancestor who went to AL, MO, AR, etc. site address: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/search/search.asp?s=31 if you use aol you will probably have to copy and paste Carol Don't let another child be hurt by ignorance. I have just started research a BRUCE line in England. This is what I have found so far. Richard BRUCE was married to someone with the given name of Ann. They had a daughter named Ann who married Edward SMITH. Edward and Ann (BRUCE) SMITH had 2 sons, Jesse age 29 and Cornelius Smith age 24, still living at home, also a grandaughter Rosanna Haines age 14, all on the 1851 census of St. Luke Parish, Finsbury, Middlesex, England. I believe they also had a son Josiah and probably several others including 2 daughters. Rosanna HAINES came to Michigan in 1856 along with her grandmother Ann SMITH, her aunt Ann Jones and uncle Cornelius Smith. They went to the home of her uncle Josiah SMITH in Michigan. If this fits into anyones BRUCE line please let me know. I have another BRUCE line but I will save that until next time. Thanks, Joan
