I am trying to find my gggm Millie/Milla/Millia Bruce DUGGER b. ca. 1788 VA ?, d. sept 6, 1860 Omaha, Gallatin Co IL. She is believed to be a possible daughter to William b. abt 1762 VA and Mary ? BRUCE . Siblings probably were: Littleton, Martha Ann, Walker,Mary "Polly", Jefferson and Benjamin BRUCE(some b. Sumner Co TN). Millie (Whose name could possibly be Amelia?) married Dread DUGGER ca. 1803, probably in Sumner Co TN. Sister Mary "Polly" married Flood DUGGER, brother to Dread. Millie and Dread DUGGER's children were: Allen b. 1805, William Stewart b.1811,John Harrison b. 1814 Doctor Washington b. 1819,Wilie b. 1820, Hardy C. b. 1824, Lucinda "Lucy" b. 1834 Elizabeth , and Emily b. 1828. The DUGGER family migrated to Gallatin Co IL around 1830 and there were also BRUCE relations in the same area. I have lots of DUGGER information but other than locating Millie's grave in Gallatin Co IL I have been unable to determine her parentage, birth date or birth place. _____________________________________________________________________ Carol E. I have traced my Bruces back to my 3rd great grandfather who, the family story goes, was born in Scotland and came to America during the Rev. War. His name is unknown. He was married to "Molly" they had two sons: William b 1782 and John b 1783 in Virginia. "Scotland" was killed by Indians near Marrietta, (OH) between 1783 and 1785. Mollie remarried to John Hart in 1785. William and John married Ferguson sisters, Margaret and Marga. William is my line of descendents. He and Margaret were married in 1808 in Greenup co. KY. Their children were: Vincent Ferguson b 1810, George Washington b 1812, Elizabeth b 1814 (all born in KY) Andrew Jackson b 1817, Amaziah Creighton b 1818, Mary Ann (Polly) b 1821, and William Reason b 1823. these four children were born in Lawrence co. Ohio. Vincent Ferguson my great grandfather married Corinthia Clark in 1833 They had seven sons: William Willard b 1834, Daniel Clark b 1836, George Washington b 1837, Quincy Roger b 1839, Vincent Carpas b 1841, Oliver Perry b 1844, Elisha Barton b 1846. They moved their family to Linn co. Missouri in 1859. Quincy, my grandfather married Mary Jane Smith 1867. Their first two sons Osker P. b 1868 and Walter C. b 1869 died at a very early age. They had five other children Cora Alice b 1871 Archibald b 1875, Zella b 1876, Daniel Clark b 1878, and Jesse Ammon b 1887. Daniel Clark is my father. This is my direct line and have much more information on other branches. I am trying to find informaton on "Scotland" Bruce. Anyone have any information of where to turn? I have hit that brick wall that will not shatter. If any of these families sound familiar I will gladly furnish more information. Donna R. (Bruce) Mouton

(abt 1835-) They are probably brothers (unproved) and my first record of them is in 1843 in Fountain County, Indiana. They are still in Indiana in 1850 then disappear. Samuel may have gone to live in Missouri but I have not been able to locate him yet! Rebecca Ramsey Rramsey113@aol.com
Hi Carol, Unfortunatly I do not have documented proof of where exactly my ancestors came from in Scotland. My sister, however, seems to think that Klackmananshire (County?) is the place to start if and when we ever make the pilgrimage to explore our roots further. She said that many of the Bruce's were from that area. Sorry I couldn't help you more Best Regards and Happy Ancestor Hunting! I have just started research a BRUCE line in England and I would love to hear from anyone else working on this line or had any information about these families.. Richard BRUCE was married to someone with the given name of Ann. They had a daughter named Ann who married Edward SMITH. On the 1851 census of St. Luke Parish, Finsbury, Middlesex, England, Edward and Ann (BRUCE) SMITH had 2 sons still living at home, Jesse age 29 and Cornelius Smith age 24, also a grandaughter Rosanna Haines age 14, I believe they also had a son Josiah and probably several others including 2 daughters. One married a Jones. Rosanna HAINES came to Michigan in 1856 along with her grandmother Ann SMITH, her aunt Ann Jones and uncle Cornelius Smith. They went to the home of her uncle Josiah SMITH in Michigan. Thanks, Joan
