    3. If you know who these BRUCEs are, please contact Charles BRUCE, email address below. --------------------------------------------------------- o I have had since 1983 a King James Version, Giant Print, Holy Bible that was handed to me by a realty agent who found it in a vacant house he had for sale in Austell, Georgia. He could not find the owners and since my name was BRUCE he asked me to take the Bible and try to locate the owners. The first page states that the Bible was presented to Valerie Lynn BRUCE by her husband, Robert Lee BRUCE, Jr., a late Christmas gift on 25 December 1981. Both their parents and their children's genealogy is reflected in the Bible. I did not know and was never able to find the family and for the past years the Bible has been stored on a shelf in my library. I would be most happy to pass this Bible on to the proper family upon proper identification. Charles Bruce [email protected]

    1. ROBESON CO NC CONNECTIONS ? ? ?
    2. Attention Researchers with Robeson Co NC Connections! July 10th, 2001: The Robeson County Heritage Book Project is now officially off and going. Chairperson, Treasurer and Committees where elected and additional Criteria was established for the Heritage Book. Information concerning criteria, examples of stories, and how to prepare your stories, along with restrictions and other details will be in the brochure. So far we have received over 450 names and smailing addresses of folks who interested in the Robeson County Heritage Book Project. These names have come to us via the internet, and especially by announcements such as this on the various Rootswebs Mailing List [ROOTSWEBS, Thank you so much!!!]. The Robeson County Heritage Book is being written by hundreds of people who submit stories on their Robeson County connected ancestors. If your ancestors were from Robeson Co NC, then we encourage you to submit stories on your Robeson Co NC ancestors. If you do not put your family's story in the book then no one else probably will, and the end result is that they will be left out of the publication. You don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to write a story. You can make your stories just as simple, or just as elaborate, as you wish. You can even take an obituary, add birth, death and marriage dates, names of parents, list all children, and any interesting facts and/or stories about your subject that you would like to relay to other readers, and especially to your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc… This book will be a treasure to all, who are interested in Robeson County, her families. If you are interested in this project and would like to be placed on the mailing list to receive a brochure [brochures should be in from the publisher by late July], then send us your name and smailing address to the e-mail address listed below so we may send you a Robeson County Heritage Book Brochure. Please do not send any stories, etc… until after you Have received your brochure. [email protected] Thanks, Sam West Lumberton, [Robeson County] North Carolina

    1. Bessie, Cenia, Cleva, Lillie, Sallie, Willie BRUCE
    2. These six Bruce ladies may be daughters of Smith Lee Bruce and Adeline Perry Bruce of Sumner County, Tennessee, born between 1880 and 1892. My only knowledge of them comes from their signatures on deeds selling property they had inherited. Here's what I know about them. Bessie BRUCE was in Colgate, Indian Territory, Central District, Oklahoma, on 5 July 1909. She may be the widow of a Bruce rather than a daughter. Cenia BRUCE DeLAY, wife of Edward DeLAY, was in Douglas Co., Wisconsin, in 1904 and in Hepeni, Douglas Co., WI, in 1925. Cleva BRUCE was in Douglas Co., WI, in 1906, and by 1925 she had married H. C. HICKS and was living in El Reno, OK. Lillie BRUCE was in Cole Co., OK, in 1909. Sallie BRUCE was in Adair Co., MO, in 1907. By 1925 she had married H. E. VALENTINE and was in Montgomery Co., Kansas. Willie BRUCE was in Adair Co., MO in 1907. This extended Bruce family descends from John Bruce and Mary Smith who migrated from Culpeper Co., VA, to Wilkes Co., NC, to Sumner Co., TN.

    1. New subscriber BRUCEWATER or BRUCE-WATER
    2. Tony & Jenni
    3. Hi to everyone on the list, I have been researching my BRUCEWATER ancestors for a number of years and have been unable to find any other family besides my direct line anywhere in the world. It has been suggested to me that the name is probably BRUCE-WATER. Anyway this is all I know and I hope someone on the list can help me. Nathaniel BRUCEWATER [also known as James] occupation Sailor, first appears in Whitby, Yorkshire England in 1770 with wife Ann, son William aged 3, no record of a marraige in Whitby or Williams birth, then the birth of Marshall b. 1770 in Whitby. The family stayed there until Marshall married Hannah Scorfield in 1790 in Whitby and had a son Marshall b. 1794. Marshall no.2 then moved to Durham, then on to Leeds and then to London. His son James Marshall Bruce-Water moved to Australia and he is my gg grandfather. Has anyone heard of this name or of any BRUCE and WATER marraiges pre 1750. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end with this lot. They may have come from Scotland as their accent must have been very thick as the variants of this surname just in my direct line begin like this. BRUISEWATER, BREWSWATER, BRUESWHATER, BRUCEWHATTER, BRUCEWHARTER, BRUCEWHARTEN, and there are a few more, so I presume that their accent wasn't English. Kind regards Jennifer in Australia.

    3. Hello Everyone, I am sorry about having to post to the list on this again so soon but I had it pointed out to me, ( by a very kind person), that I had left out some rather important information that just might aid you in helping me. So here I go again. I am looking for any and all information about my grand mother Elllen BRUCE. I think she was born in Clinton, Mass. but not sure of that. I don't know when she was born. She married my grand father on 12/11/1898 in Roxbury, Vt. My grand father's name is Frank A CLOUGH, he was born in Vermont in 1871 and died in NH in 1953. Well there you have it, I sure hope that someone out there can help me. Thanks, Vernon G Clough
