    1. Isabella Bruce
    2. Vicky Thomas
    3. I have an Isabella Bruce (b.1810-1813) who married a Joseph Wickens in the early1800s. No idea where they married, but know that they ended up in Barrington, Nova Scotia area as Mr. Wickens was a noted schoolmaster. Their first child was born in 1826. My direct ancestor, Charlotte Bruce Wickens (b.1840), came to the USA just before (about 1860) the Am. Civil War and marries George Henry Howard in the Boston, MA area, prior to active duty. I'm attempting to locate/names of Isabella's parents. I believe, through some personal papers I have in my possession, that Isabella may be related to Artemus Bruce(b.1728-d.1811) who removed to Vermont in 1776. I'm specifically interested in any research that has been done on this Artemus Bruce line in Vermont (children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren) for confirmation of my theory. I have traced most of the Bruce families in ME, NH, MA and some in VT. Also have been to Nova Scotia's National Archives and have concluded that my Isabella was not born Nova Scotia. Other Wickens relatives in Nova Scotia came to the same conclusion. So any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Vicky Thomas

    1. FRANCES BRUCE & JOHN SMITH of PA
    2. Can anyone on the list help me with some information about Frances Bruce and John Smith who were married on 28 April 1800 in Market Square Presbyterian Church at Harrisburg, Dauphin County, PA? Shortly after their marriage, John and Frances moved to East Pennsborough Twp., near Mechanicsburg, in Cumberland County, PA. They had seven children: Leander, Malinda, Alexander, Eli, John, Josephus and Frances Eliza, the family thought to be members of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg. Frances Bruce Smith died there on 6 November 1820. John Smith remarried on 19 October 1824 to a Mary Fisher, possibly a daughter of a John and Catherine Fisher. John Smith could be Johann Jacob [Schmidt] Smith, born in Lancaster County, PA on 23 Jan 1769, and christened on 4 May 1769, the fourth and last son of Johann Ludwig Schmidt I and Mary Gertrude Gibler. Any information you might have about these people would be very much appreciated. Duncan Davidson Carmel, IN dcdcarmel@aol.com
