These names sound pretty close. There are a couple of websites with Bruce info. One of them is: www.shifletfamily.org. This site is mostly about the Shifflett line, of course, but the Bruces and Shiffletts intermarried many times over the centuries so we are practically one family. If you email me I'll share with you what I have and maybe we can find a connection.

    3. Hi Everyone, Does anyone know the below Mary Runyan's parents names? Thanks for any reply. Tom Runyan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ginny and Ike" <ebeachbums@worldnet.att.net> To: <BRUCE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: June 25, 2002 8:47 PM Subject: Re: George Bruce b. 2 Apr 1760 Va.? I am descended from Margaret Bruce m. David Cox, Margaret being the sister of your George Bruce. Let me know if you are interested in the information I have. I received it from another BRUCE researcher. There is also a book called John Bruce of the Shenandoah written by Violet Laverne Bruce which I found in a library in Winchester, VA. I made copies of some pages relevant to me. You might try and find a copy of this book. The John Bruce in the title is the father of James Bruce who married Margaret McMahon, George's parents. Ms. Violet Bruce shows George married to Mary Barnett and a Briggs. She does not have information beyond his marriages. The book would be helpful for family history and information on George's siblings and ancestors.
