Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XOG.2ACIB/29.54.987.1 Message Board Post: The Book "Alexander Bruce----etc." by June A, Bruce Stubbs is not in print and no copies are available. I actually spoke to Ms. Stubbs today (as well as previously) and she verified that none is available, nor is a reprint in the offing. I am not sure where it may be available in a reference library. The section of her book on the Bruces however, has been published in its exact form in a book by Carleton Dillard of Augusta , Ga. in "Daniels, Dillards and kin ". ( with Ms. Stubbs permission of course). I found a copy of Dillard's book in the Genealogy section of the City Library in Washington, Georgia. Where elso it may be found, I do not know. I incidentally have also spoken to Mr. Dillard (also related to the Bruce family) and find that no more copies of his book are available either. I am fortunate enough to have acquired his book several years ago--I could do a l look-up for you if you would e-mail me at <Bmonogle@aol.com>

    1. Re: BRUCE line in VA
    2. Steven R. Page
    3. Bob, Nope, this Bruce does not show up in my tree since I never fleshed this line out because it's a collateral on. A quick search at familysearch.com (the LDS web site) came up with the following: George Bruce (c.1758 Albemarle, VA - 1808 Lexington, KY) + Temperance Colvard (c.1760 Albemarle, VA - c.1810 KY) had eight children including Benjamin B. Bruce (c.1785 VA). They don't give any more information other than the submitter was Lebron Camp Preston of Walnut Creek, CA. Another large group of people submitted this information: George Bruce (c.1725 Fluvanna, VA - xxx Winchester, Clark Co., KY) + about 1747 in Fluvanna, VA to: Temperance _____ (c.1727 Fluvanna, VA - ???) Only child they give was: Benjamin Bruce (c.1755 Albemarle, VA - December 31, 1809 Crest Orchard, Clark Co., KY). He married March 26, 1773 Albemarle, VA to: Mildred or Milly Watts (March 26, 1753 Albemarle, VA? - 1842 Winchester, Clark Co., KY). A good part of the researchers were working on her line so this is a different angle. In any event, it looks like your Benjamin Bruce ended up in Kentucky. Hope this helps?
