    3. G'day, None that I know of. What is most likely, I understand, is that as surnames developed, (as opposed to titles,) people under the patronage, serfdom , tenent farmers etc. often took as their surname that of the Lord or Laird the were woking for. Hence the names of houses such as Neville, Godfrey, and so on. It didn't seem to strech to dukedoms though. People called York, or Norfolk are more likely to have been from those counties. It's rather like people calle King, or Prince or Pope etc. They are more than likely to have been descended from the regular player of such a part in the medieval mystery plays than from an actual king, pope, priest or saint. King Robert also had a daughter, Marjory, who married Walter Stewart, and started the Stewart line of English/Scottish royalty. Undoubtedly some of their descendants came to America.

    1. Robert the Bruce's legitimate children
    2. Randolph Bruce
    3. Robert de BRUCE (or BRUS), King Robert I of Scotland, was the father of a number of children, most illegitimate. His legitimate son David, by his second wife, Elizabeth de BURGH, became king after Robert's death, but left no legal heirs to the throne. Robert's daughter Marjorie, by his first wife, Isabel de Mar, m. Walter STEWART/STEWARD and was the foremother of the line of Scottish kings of the House of Stewart, starting with her son Robert II, and including Mary, Queen of Scots, and James VI who, after the death of Elizabeth I, inherited the English throne and became James I of England. Queen Elizabeth II has inherited the blood of The BRUCE through her mother, the late Queen Mother Elizabeth, daughter of the House of Bowes-Lyon. Fascinating stuff, eh? 3. I agree with an earlier posting regarding this: I believe that Robert the Bruce had one surviving daughter--Marjorie, who married Walter, the high steward. Marjorie and Walter's son--Robert the Bruce's grandson--became Robert II, the first king from the house of Stewart (from high Steward). Therefore, I believe all of Robert the Bruce's direct line of descendants comes from Stewart line because of his daughter's marriage. On the other hand, is it possible that Robert I's line be traced through the Carrick line too? I'm not an expert, so someone please jump in and correct me if you have other information. Linda

He was born on 16 April 1906. I don't even know the state where he was born, but it might have been in Marion Co., Missouri. He died on 02 February 1963, though I don't know where. Their children include Wilbur Floyd Bruce, Pearl Luetta Bruce, Robert Lee Bruce, Rosetta Mae Bruce, Harold Everett Bruce, and Joyce Irene Bruce. I'm researching my direct ancestry, so names of Floyd Charles Bruce's parents would be especially useful, but any information will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
