How sad to see one die so young as in that obituary...... There seems to be a good bit of cancer in my own line of BRUCEs - but different types & from the one study in which I've participated - the genetic counsellors did not call it hereditary - but a term which means there is a family tendency to cancer.....That is not what they actually called it - but am taking liberty to paraphrase what I was told. Anyone else w/BRUCE lines see this in their line? shs

Sarah, do you have any information on the Lucretia Bruce mentioned as a daughter of Peter and Rachel? I have a missing Bruce from about that time period. She is my g g g grandmother, Luvicy/ Lavicy born 1798. One census says North Carolina, but others say Georgia. She married Obediah Nix around 1819, probably in the Maury - Madison - Rutherford Counties of Tennessee. They had 4 children born in the Madison Co. area and moved to Illinois in 1828, where 5 more were born. They came to Texas about 1853. Luvicy and Obediah's second daughter was Lucretia, who married Emsley Harris Any assistance FROM ANYONE will be greatly appreciated. Christine

Is anybody researching the Bruces who were in Lincoln County in 1830? I think it is possible that my great-grandmother, Mahuldia Bruce, born in 1815, may have been born in Lincoln County, perhaps the daughter of a James Bruce. I have only circumstantial evidence, however, and nothing solid. She married a John Furgerson (Ferguson????) and I believe his parents may have also been in Lincoln County at the same time --perhaps the son of a John Ferguson. If anybody has information about the Bruces in Lincoln county from 1810-1850 I would very much appreciate hearing from you. My great-grandparents are first found in census information in the 1860 census records of Hopkins County, Ky. I have been unable to find them in 1850 in either Tennessee or Kentucky. Thank you.
