Her oldest daughter, Minnie RICHARDS (b. 11/23/1868 Peoria, Franklin, KS; d. 4/9/1947 El Monte, L.A., CA) married (1/1/1896, Ottawa, Franklin, KS) Marcus Edward TATE (5/18/1856 b. Albia, Monroe, IA; 8/11/1936, El Monte, L.A., CA) Their children were Thomas Fred TATE (b. 4/7/1897 Ottawa, Franklin, KS; d. 11/30/1919 El Monte, L.A. CA) never married. Ruth Marie TATE (b. 8/24/1898 San Bernardino, Sn. Bdno., CA; d.1/26/1981 Covina, L.A., CA never married. Mark Edward TATE (b. 8/12/1900 San Bernardino, Sn. Bdno., CA; d. 5/6/1926 Santa Fe Springs, L.A., CA) never married. John William TATE (b. 11/13/1904 San Bernardino, Sn. Bdno., CA; d. 4/4/1996 San Luis Obispo, S.L.O., CA) John William TATE married (4/5/1930 Upland, Sn. Bdno., CA) Ila Mae HALL (b. 2/13/1910 Upland, Sn. Bdno., CA; d. 11/13/1989 Morro Bay, S.L.O., CA) one child. Their daughter Jean Louise TATE would be me Marcus Edward TATE was a blacksmith. He had lived in the Hanford/Grangeville are of California while he was smithing for the Southern Pacific RR. While the family lived in San Bernardino, he worked for the Twenty Mule Team. Later he moved his family to El Monte and operated his own blacksmith shop there. He invented a walnut washer in his blacksmith shop in El Monte. Thomas Fred TATE was ill much of his life with back trouble. Mark Edward TATE served in France during WW I. He died in an oil field accident at Santa Fe Springs. Ruth Marie (named after her grandmother, so as not to confuse people they used Marie instead of Maria) John William TATE was an agent for the Southern Pacific Railroad. The TATE family (excepting John) are buried in the El Monte Cemetery, now in Rosemead, L.A., CA. John and his wife are buried in the Bellevue Mausoleum in Ontario, Sn. Bdno, CA. Etta A. RICHARDS married William B. ADKINS, I have some information on them as Minnie and Etta were close. They signed the TATE wedding certificate. Ida RICHARDS married Wile REEVES.
