The following link shows census info for Jefferson Co., KY. Note there is an unplaced Madison Broyles in the 1850 census. The census entry is quite unusual. It does not appear that Harriet Broyles is his wife. She is possibly a widowed sister-in-law, or an unmarried sister, with young son John. Note also the presence of a Pate child in the family. Also living nearby is Washingon Broyles whose wife is Emily Pate. The Jefferson Co. census records are problematic. William Broyles is the patriarch of the Jefferson Co. branch but is only found in the 1810 census. Records for 1820 and 1830 would probably clear up who Madison is (another son of William?), but they appear to be incomplete. http://www.ultranet.com/~deeds/broyles/html/census/KYJeffer.htm#1850 Researching Pate and Broyles in Jefferson Co., KY I am looking for any info on Litha Murtle Pate who married Madison Newton Broyles who had a daughter Mable Broyles who married George Batt who is my husband's great-great grandparents. If you can help it would be appreciated. Thanks!!
