Message text written by INTERNET:BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com >Am searching for PROOF that Michael Broyles and Elizabeth Klug ARE the parents of Aaron Broyles b. 1767 m. Nancy Davis. Need proof for First Families. Thanks, Linda This is a good question. A skeptic would say there is no proof at all, but there is evidence in favor of the proposition. First, the family stories compiled by Keith one hundred years ago assert that Aaron was Michael's son. Michael and Elizabeth were of the right age to father Aaron. Second, as far as we can tell, Aaron named two children Michael and Elizabeth, presumably after his parents. The fact that his eldest son was named Felix (for Felix Earnest, security for the wedding) lends weight to the idea that the children were named for friends and family. Third, Keith has a story relating an exchange between Aaron's wife and Aaron's brother Michael during a return trip she made to east Tennessee. Michael is established as Michael Sr.'s son. Fourth, there is no credible alternate placement in the family. Perhaps the Greene/Washington land or court records contain a clincher.
