    1. [BROYLES] Broylesville, Washington Co. Tennessee
    2. Today I took a drive to find my CLICK/GLUCK (German family) family farm in Washington Co, Tennessee, which I have discovered is located 1/2 mile east from Broylesville. My family had lived in that same area on 240 acres of land since at least 1787 that I know of. Our land was adjacent to James Graham, Sr who died in 1813. I found some research that indicated his wife may have been Sarah Broyles. I believe my 3rd great grandmother Ruth is James and Sarah's daughter. Sarah apparently lived to be around 110 years of age, and the best I can calculate her birth year is approx 1740/50. My family has consistently lived neighbors in the early years in Washington Co. & then in Greene Co. to the families of Conrod Willhoit, Nicholas, Mathias, Abraham, & Michael Broyles,Solomon Yeager, & Adam Gann. Our Click family has 28 Broyles marriages and a few in the Willhoit family, and some in the Gann family all the way through Washington, Greene, & Cocke counties. Our Click's are from Shenandoah Co. Virginia and came down about 1785 and believe they may have first been in Greene county & then moved over to Washington abt 1787. With the loss of some of the tax lists I can't determine for sure which county first. A couple of the boys, Martin & Malachi Click, lived in Greene county and owned land in the Middle Creek & Horse Creek areas. The Middle Creek area is at the corner of the Hermon Church. The question I had to ask myself today was WHY were they living amongst all of these inter-related families and WHY did they pick this particular location in which to live. The usual reasons were family. My 2nd great grandmother was a Gray who married a Click, and from Culpeper and Madison Co. Virginia. Her grandmother was ElizabethYOWELL who married Elias Campbell & Elizabeth is dtr of Christopher YOWELL, Jr. Christopher's sister Elizabeth is who married Jacob Broyles, son of Jacob Broyles & Mary Catherine Fleischmann. No one has ever known the name of the wife of our Ludwig Henrich Gluck aka Lewis Henry Click who settled here. And I find it VERY STRANGE that here he is living amongst all of these German families if we weren't related somehow, cause I know he didn't come by himself. I checked the database for the Broyles families and can't seem to find a Sarah that fits into the timeframe, but I did find a suspected daughter Mary, who was a daughter of Jacob Broyles & Mary Fleischmann born abt 1748. And here is Sarah Graham living among the children of Jacob & Mary. And of course we have no marriage records. I discovered the Washington co courthouse had a fire in 1838 and suspect they must have lost some marriage records, cause I do have a few from the early records of our Click's. Another strange thing I find is that members of our family belonged to Cherokee Baptist church and here they are living amongst Presbyterians. Another thing of interest is that I believe some of the Yeager's made pottery. Some members of our family in Greene county made pottery, and we suspect that it was carried with our family from Germany due to the type of pottery they made. So I find it rather coincidental that we are living near Solomon Yeager. If anyone could shed any light on my Sarah Broyles? Graham I would be forever grateful. I just can't believe there isn't a connection to some of these families somehow. Thanks for any help. I'll be at the reunion this year, was in the process of moving in Sept & couldn't come.
