I've heard from one other person doing research on a similar name of an ancestor from that part of Germany; but that was so long ago I've forgotten who it was and I can't find the emails on the subject. How much research have you done on Johan? Have you found any birth, marriage, or death records in Bremen? It would be interesting to trace him and see if he came from the Baden-Württemberg area from which our BROYLES/BRILES ancestors immigrated in the early 1700's. I'm sending a CC: of this reply to our genealogy Mailing Lists to see if I can find out anything. Will let you know if any discoveries are made. In the meantime, please keep in touch and keep me informed of anything you discover. Regards, George W. Durman (My mother was a BROYLES.)
Looking for information on Johan Breuls. The information that we have on Johan Breuls is that he was born either August 26, 1776 in Bremen or August 23, 1781. We have no birth certificate. We do not know when he left Germany to go to England, but that it was probably between 1808-1809 as he got married in 1810 to an English women. I have found it very difficult to find records.
