    1. Re: [BROYLES] Broyles or Briles marrying a Young
    2. I don't know if William was ever in McNairy Co. You'll need to do some research in McNairy Co. and White Co. to try to firm up the theory. It sounds like there might be a marriage record in McNairy Co. Tax and land records might show the arrival/departure dates. On further reflection, William A. Broyles was pretty consistent in his use of his middle initial, so that got me wondering why the pension didn't say William A. Briles. Perhaps William Briles was the bride's brother, not father (though I've only ever seen this kind of thing as the father). Back to the database I went. Check out Andrew Briles at this page http://users.rcn.com/deeds/broyles/html/d0002/g0000046.htm Andrew lived in Hardeman and Fayette Cos., TN, and died in 1845. He has a son William Briles and two unnamed daughters of the right age to be Rosannah. McNairy is to the east of Fayette, so it's in the wrong direction, and William is found in the Fayette Co. census of 1850, so that doesn't work in favor of this theory either, but he's a full-blooded Briles.
